Ducati continues safety-related research and experimentation
Multistrada 1260 used in the first American demonstration of the ConVeX (Connected Vehicle to Everything) project at Consumer Electronics Show® 2019
Ducati, Audi AG, and Ford Motor Company together to set new bike safety standards
Borgo Panigale, Bologna, 8 January 2019 – Ducati continues its safety-focused research by taking part - together with Audi and Ford - in the first US demonstration of a communication system that interlinks vehicles, street infrastructure and pedestrians.
This test follows the one completed in Germany last July (here the press release). The latter saw the ConVeX (Connected Vehicle to Everything) project - a key part of Ducati's “Safety Road Map 2025” strategy which aims to develop new safety systems and technologies - showcased in Europe for the very first time. The initial stages of this strategy will see ABS Cornering extended to the entire Ducati range and the market launch, in 2020, of a... -

748 My 2000 748r Purchase
This has taken a while, the tyranny of distance can be a bastard in Aust. (in this case 2700km).
The bike was first posted for sale in my FB group and after negotiations (aired elsewhere on here) and freeing up cash the deal was done.
Bike has been verified as one of the (MY2000) 690 made by Ducati. Hardly any came to Aust. This one has been laid up in a shed for about 3 years and needs a complete refresh and is unregistered. The owner has become , in his words, too old to ride it.
Located in Adelaide, which is neither here nor there in Aust there is a sole Ducati dealership. When I emailed them with a clear subject line to ask about a pre-purchase inspection they deleted it unread. So I found a reputable general M/C mechanic and asked a certain specialist ( @Android853sp ) for a few things the mechanic should look out for.
Happily, nothing turned up than what I already new. So the bike has a 45/50mm link pipe to the Termi cans and a UM241 chip. Showa front, Ohlins Rear, no... -
Dear All
This is Sam from Belgium, living nearby the race track in Zolder. I am a proud owner of a 748 from 1999. Bought it a few moths ago. It was a kind of gamble. No history, no maintenance book and the tires were ... raced. The engine looked clean, dry and sounded healthy. With 35000 km on the clock she was no garage queen. The overall outside look was a little messy. I was looking for a kind of winter project and this 748 is my dream bike. Combine this with a low asking price and you understand this was an offer I can’t refuse. I gave it a shot ! Since then I had a lot of fun in restoration all the broken, tired plastic parts, replacing worn bearings, checking and updating electro, studying the belt replacement and so on and on.... It’s not finished yet but I am in no hurry. My goal is to have it ready for some track days this summer and go to WDW in 2020. Thank you for having me. Looking forward to learn more from you guys
Include some picture of the project. -
950 Sp Ordered
Got an email from Jess at Ducati Glasgow before Christmas telling me their Hypermotard 950 demonstrator was in the showroom.
So yesterday i put many layers of thermals on, and after 30 minutes of removing covers, locks and putting the rear wheel back on my hyperstrada i headed over to Glasgow.
There it was in pride of place right in the middle of the showroom as you come in the door.
After finally getting dragged off it by the misses i spoke with Martin(The Owner) and the deal was done. New 950 Sp arriving in April
Last order of buisness was to take the standard 950 demonstrator out a test. I was the first customer to ride it and even though the road conditions were a bit sketchy it was awesome, unfortunately didnt have the quickshifter fitted but it has definitely been brought up to todays technical standards, sounds brilliant with the twin pipes and some of the small niggles have been more refined.
Just need to sell the Hyperstrada now but will put a post up for... -

Happy new year all the cool dudes and dudettes of the Best Ducati Forum in t' world!!!

Impressed, Dissapointed, Impressed.
For the last 2 weeks or so I’ve been riding a newly purchased winter hack due to the roads being wet/dirty etc, EX650R , 2008 model, £1200, very impressed with it, goes well stops well, handles well, I was expecting it to be rubbish but its surprisingly good, but surely it couldn’t compare to my Dukes?, so today when the roads finally dried I was really looking forward to taking the Scrambler out, more torque, better handling, better braking ...except it wasn’t, dynamically it’s just not as good as the Kawasaki, and it’s less comfortable, there I’ve said it!, the Scrambler looks better but isn’t, front brake felt weak, doesn’t swap direction as quickly etc etc, disappointed! ... so it was with some trepidation that I wheeled out the 900ss, would my all time favourite machine now feel dated, awkward, underwhelming?, NOPE!, it felt sublime, great brakes, rock steady handling, lovely torquey power delivery, had a blast.
Thanks to the blue BMW driver who wound his window down at the... -
We All Know Big Brother Is Watching
But take a look at this I have just seen on FB. This photo is captured with 24.9 billion pixels of quantum technology. You can zoom in, zoom out when you look at it. You can clearly see every gesture, even face of pedestrians on the road. Click on the link to see the actual photograph

1200 DVT Nice Little Christmas Eve Ride Out
Got out for a lovely ride this morning in brilliant sunshine and temperatures that started just above zero. Up Long Hill to Buxton, down to Leek and back home to Stockport via Macclesfield. Saw 10,000 miles come up on the way home (bike is pretty much worthless now then!) which isn't a bad year's riding considering it had 1600 miles on it when I bought the bike in April. Ridden well over 10,000 miles this year (I had a Multi 950 before the 1200S). The bike has never missed a single beat in those miles - it has been a really pleasure to own and ride.
Merry Christmas to all and ride safe in 2019. -
Agv..ago Replica.
Just treated myself to an early Xmas present, an AGV Agostini 3000x replica helmet....I have to say it oozes quality, leather/suede interior and limited Edition plaque on rear...wanted one of these for ages. Not sure how quiet it's gonna be but I don't really care.yellowducmaniac Dec 24, 2018 Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment Read More Views: 3,905 Likes: 13 Replies: 32 -
Merry Christmas To You All
I’d just like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas on behalf of me and @Rob.
Thanks for yet another brilliant year of banter, knowledge sharing, advice giving, general kindness, friendship and riding (and anything else I’ve not mentioned). Keep it up for the coming New Year! And I hope to meet more of you then.
Have a great holiday with your loved ones wherever you are.

My Safety Related Good Deed
Took my uncle to Fowlers in Bristol yesterday to get him a new helmet. He's got a bike in Sri Lanka and was riding around with a 20 quid helmet. He didn't wanna spend much, initially starting at 50 quid and then going up to a 100. Bare in mind this fool has all the money you can ever want. He's wearing an Omega watch and has just bought a new car for over 100K. He just doesn't believe he will ever crash. All the usual nonsense 'I only ride on the weekend' 'I ride slow' 'it's only a small bike'.
Anyway finally I get him to get a nice HJC RLPHA 11 pro jobbie reduced from 360 to 190, and some decent RST full leather gloves. Couldn't get him to get any more kit, but I was really pleased with the outcome. I didn't actually know much about the helmet, but the reviews are very good, and that's a great deal. The 20 quid helmet was probably gonna do nothing more than hold some of the blood and bone fragments in if he did crash. Well chuffed I am. -
1200 The Hopes, Fears And 1st 6 Months Of Ducati Ownership .
Having had more than a little envy of Ducatis style the culture, and desmo valves for quite a while the things about ownership that put me off were the question mark over reliability, especially several stories I read about 2010 - 2012 Multistrada motors lunching themselves. Not only that but stories of coolant problems, fuel sender problems and the other elephant in the room which is servicing costs. All this meant that I daren't risk what limited hard earned I had on a the cost of a Multistrada.
Any road up 6 months ago I decided that not to would be a massive regret and so I took the plunge, hoping for the best and being accepting should it be the worst. I went for a 2014 from a non Ducati dealer (KTM actually ) with 7000 miles on it, this kept costs down. I kept my Jap in line 4 as my safety net and guaranteed reliability.
It's now done 13500 miles and taken me on short tours of Scotland, England and the big one which is World Ducati Week. All with perfect reliability, the... -
748 748 Owner's Diary
To get my Ducati fix while trying to sort my old decrepid 600ss I’ve managed to bag myself a lovely yellow 748! After 3 years on a GSXR600 I was craving some Desmo loveliness so took the plunge and sold the Suzuki and went on the hunt. The head said get a 749 or stretch to an 848 but the heart said it had to be a 9*6 or 748.
It’s a basic 2001 748E fitted with a single seat unit (with missmatching 90’s Ducati decals - but I don’t care!), came with all the original bits, a decent history and a grand total of 5200 miles on the clock. Shite time to buy a bike but have managed to get my first 100 miles in and am completely in love, the chassis is night and day compared to the Suzuki and the induction noise above 6krpm is pure magic.
Plans are to find some carbon termis (once I’ve saved up), sort the wobbly dials and just enjoy the bike. -

I Made It Into Fast Bikes.!
Thought it would appear in the distant future but the hyper is in this months issue.! Gave the forum a mention too. Ironic as my little bro was on the credits last night on Dynasties (he's one of the cameramen) and my older bro designed and built the camera traps...the pair of them are really clever in their own fields, but, never stop arguing. -
1098 1098r - The Perfect Ducati?
I never used "The Beast" last year and as it's going in for a service in the next month and I fully intend to use it this year, I thought I'd start it up today.
I forgot what an utter animal this thing is. Raw unlike any other bike I've ever owned or ridden. Just starting it up had the neighbours curtains twitching. I know we now have 240bhp V4's with electronics to make NASA jealous, but I honestly think nothing compares to a sorted one of these things in terms of giving you a tingle.
When does summer start again?
