1098 1098r A Wee Day Out!
An hour actually, as the ride was cut short by a downpour. Having acquired the bike six weeks ago I finally found time to collect it last week but had only ridden it for about 15 mins in Geneva before madam caught sight of me in very unsuitable clothing and gave me a sour look (which, if you have seen the photos, is difficult for her), demanding it return to JoeC towers immediately!
So today I managed to sneak an afternoon to myself and head out accross the mountains to Châtel to see a supplier of mine. It has been about 35° here for as long as I can remember and attired this time with jeans, hoodie and timberland boots I took off.
It likes to wheelie this bike, even at about 130kph and off the throttle, putting a massive grin on my already goonish face. It also pulls like a steam train, I think I could probably hitch up my work trailer to it and it wouldn't bat an eyelid. The torque is endless but I stayed mainly in 2nd and 3rd so as to enjoy the view of the sky. I hadn't ridden... -
For Sale 2001 Ducati 748 Biposto **sold**

Recently stored for 5 years during house renovation and maintained by Coventry Ducati where it was on display in their showroom!

The bike has not been modified in any way, it is as it left the factory with Datatool alarm and immobiliser.
Will be going to auction at Bonhams in October if it does not find a buyer here - want to offer the Ducati community a chance to buy this low milage example.
MOT Til November, is currently declared SORN.

749 Whoops 2....with Bins!
Got my new R back home...
Gave it a quick clean and polish.
Evidence of previous track use in the documentation plus 4 spare Accosato levers....but has been serviced to death..nice!
Nice clutch. Nice pipes. Nice master cylinders.
No evidence of damage apart from a tiny crack in the front mudguard.
Annoyingly, the clock faces are both cracked which is the most disappointing thing about the bike but otherwise it’s gorgeous!

Ducati Riders Thrill World Ducati Week 2018 With The "race Of Champions"
Spectacular parade of thousands of motorcycles threaded its way from the Misano World Circuit to Rimini in the first day of World Ducati Week 2018
Claudio Domenicali "It’s the big party of the Ducatisti, and there are so many of us. All you have to do is look at the paddock of the Misano World Circuit to predict that this will be a record-breaking WDW2018!"
Big show on the track: Michele Pirro wins the "Race of Champions" on the Panigale V4 S, ahead of Rabat and Forés.
Misano Adriatico, Rimini (Italy), 21 July 2018 - The Misano paddock was completely filled with motorcycles and people from all over the world, all sharing a great passion for Ducati. A sea of motorcycles that peacefully invaded the Adriatic Riviera and occupied over 75,000 square metres of the circuit's paddock. In short, this is what is happening at WDW2018, the great Ducati gathering that from 20 to 22 July brings together tens of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world.

Indian Ftr1200
Popped a deposit down this morning to reserve a spot in the queue for one of these next year. Fingers crossed concept to production doesn’t see too many significant changes as it seriously ticks my boxes, and all the trade shenanigans don’t add significant unnecessary cost to it... -

Sometimes We Need To Remind Ourselves......
Just watched a program about a 21 year old lad who took his own life because of debt. Working as a courier rider earning very little on a zero hour contract,he obtained two traffic fines, one for riding in a bus lane. Each fine was for £65,but as he couldn't afford to pay them they amassed to over £1000. Depressed, and with seemingly nowhere to turn he hanged himself.
Here we are on one of the most elitist forums in the world, probably all with our own story to tell.
I am glad to be reminded, how fortunate I am. -

Thai Cave Rescue
Have been watching the ongoing rescue of these children from the cave system.
All the divers, particularly the two British divers have my total admiration for the skill and bravery, if anyone should be called hero's then it is these men.
Four children have been safely removed and hopefully the rest will follow.
Well done everyone involved and good luck.
Stay safe.

Forum Friends
further to my “free to good home” kitchen post, it was great to meet Andy @final_edition yesterday, who arrived at 8:am (4hr drive) to help with removal of said kitchen. 5 hrs later, job done and loaded into a van on its way to a new home.
Great to meet new friends via the forum -
Going Japanese
Reluctantly decided that it's time for the Multistrada to go . My legs are not what they were and mates are telling me I look like a geriatric stork getting my leg over these days. Did fancy the Kawasaki Z900RS but the dealer wasn't interested and gave me a lot of bull-shit so kicked them in to touch. Their is nothing in the Ducati range that catches my imagination at the moment, I could buy a V4s if I wanted but don't want to try that hard. Have tried out various bikes but the one that made me smile the most was the Yamaha MT09 Sp so I have ordered one today ,and hit the accessory list to the tune of a couple of thousand.
Once I have got my hands on it I will get the suspension set up for me, put some sticky tyres on and just ride it for a bit before deciding what else I want to do to it. -
The Kettle
After a year of hard work and f**k loads of cash...actually a shed load of cash, she is back together. A full on ground up, nut and bolt restoration, retaining as much originality as i could....but a few tweaks here and there to improve the already challenging handling (they were nicknamed the Flexi Flyer for a reason) LOL
But i have (Oh no the purists are going to have a fit) used a lot of stainless fixings.
Non original bits are the headlamp, as i actually like to see where i am going, indicators ( 2 old ones were missing and 2 were fooked)
Obviously the HiggSpeed spannies are not original but i am having the originals repaired and re-chromed which is a BIG job.
And the Hagon rear shocks are different from the original Hagon Copies from the 70's, oddly enough Suzuki copied the Hagon and fitted it to the GT !?!?!?! -
Back On A Bike !!
well after what seems like an eternity the surgeon said I could ride again today so came back to work on the multi as the weather is scorchio, not allowed to do TD's yet as the multiple bits of bone are still knitting together. he said it took the hours to repair it as it was smashed to bits .. 6 pieces he said , I think that's why it aches lot as there is quite a big chunk of titanium holding it all together. Can also go back to the gym but got to take it easy.
quite nervous on the bike tbh, just kept thinking to myself, don't fall off, don't fall off !! -
Magni Australia First Fire
I posted this stupid short video on a Guzzi forum and hardly anybody took a blind bit of notice
So given that the same thing happened with the Sfida and more on here liked the Sfida first fire, I thought maybe somebody on here might want a wee look
The Sfida 1100 now, it's going for an MOT next week
The Australia is based around a Guzzi Daytona RS (I know, I know, another fugly Guzzi). I got the bike probably about 6-8 months ago now and only had one attempt at firing it up, when some mates came around to hear it and of course it wouldn't start, you can imagine the result.
Anyway I had to replace the timing gears (Aluminium to Steel), oil pump (original runs in sleeves and is a known weak point), cam followers (some were soft) and a few other odds and ends. The main gear & Pump mod involved tearing off the belts, pulleys, a few casings, the front subframe and all the shit that hangs off the front subframe. Given my ineptitude I was a trifle nervous.
The vid is actually after it... -
