Good Customer Service....
As a few of you lot know I traded my 899 pani in against a 1198s a while back....after a few runs out in it I got back to the garage and noticed coolant across the fairing and steam rising at the front, after a bit of research and a few checks I concluded it had the well known fault of the rad breaking at the fixing point, I reported it to ducati manchester and within the hour they were back in touch to let me know a new rad was on order and would be replace free of charge! Had it done today and all is well, once again I can't fault the guys at Ducati Manchester for friendly and efficient service.
Whilst waiting I had the option to take a multistrada out for a couple of hours, I was impressed at how comfortable and capable it was to ride, although it felt rather large compared to the sportbikes I'm used to, once going it felt very easy going in both touring mode and in sport mode, cruise control was a new one for me but it was incredibly easy to use!
Pretty good day really! -

1198 First Weekend With The 1198s
So finally the cold weather in Denmark came to an end. That meant that the first ride on my 1198s was finally possible. After having owned a 749 and a 998 I was excited to try the 1198s which in my thoughts would be “the best of both worlds”. This of course due the light handling from the 749, and the incredibly torque I so loved from the 998 but now with even more. It is always dangerous to great expectations to the new toys, but this time it blew my mind.. The 1198s is such a joy to ride, (with 14/38 gearing) And a totally different animal than the 998, was expecting a difference but that much, no way... And having tried the 959 and 1199 I having a hard time seeing any other Ducati taking it’s place any time soon.. Next job is getting the suspension set up and then it is all set and go.. (And boy I like the Bridgestone Battlax RS10s)
Hope you guys had a great weekend on the other side of the water as well -

First race weekend of the season racing for the Army team. Happily managed to keep it shiny side up for the race days which was my main goal. I did manage to send it into the scenery on the last corner of the first flying lap of qualifying and picked it up and set a decent lap time straight off the pickup
The Le Mans style running start is a fun novelty.
I used Metzeller M7RR for the weekend and they were great. Most of the fast guys were on the usual slicks but the moment it spitted a few drops of rain there would be ten of them crashing at the same time because their tyres were not up... -

A Lil Present For The Forum :-)
Both Performance Bikes and Practical Sportsbikes magazines are running a sticker sheet soon and I have purchased www.ducati.tech for myself to be in both magazines - while negotiating I also added a separate Ducati Forum sticker too . It will be as shown below with a white background so will show up on all colour applications - sticky on the reverse so externally applied.
The magazines with the sticker sheet will be Performance Bikes on the 30th May (Circulation 15,000+) and Practical Sportsbikes on the 11th July (Circulation 18,000+)
I don't know the end size of the sticker as they don't know until the sheet is designed.

749 My 749
Hi All, after several years away from sports bikes since selling my Superlight and riding mainly Monsters I got a yearning for another sports bike before I get too old . I have bought this beautiful yellow 749. Its from 2005 and has just 14500 miles. It had not been ridden for a few years so I have had full belt service by Iain Rhodes @ RPM in Northampton. Top bloke if any of you are looking for an indy.
I only managed one ride over the weekend between showers but apart from a slightly achy neck it was as comfy as I expected and while not as happy as the Monsters at going slowly, when the coast is clear it all gels beautifully. Just the right amount of power for me too, enough to be interesting and fun without scaring the crap out of me and the handling is amazing. Keeping the Monsters for now , S4R1000 and S2R1000 ,although I may sell one in a while depending on how much each gets used.
I`ll add a bin shot another time for all the bin fetishists, I`m thinking the standard black... -

V4 Testride V4s Impressions / Hp4 Comparison
Most of you guys have most likely read this very well written thread from Advikaz:
https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/an-honest-review-from-a-sceptic.57963/
First of all it might be important to know that I have never owned a Ducati before, nor lasted my testrides on any Duc (916/998/1098) longer than 10 minutes. Mostly because of the uncomfortable feel with seat pillow, riding position and harsh suspension. I know all was OEM and could be fiddled in with different spring rates and / or accessories, but I never had a good opinion on the Ducs. Almost all the time I thought, what is the character attitude good for, when the damn thing does not start below 10°C, kiicks you off the seat most of the time on backroads, make your wrist hurt and, and, and...
So actually I was the opposite of a Ducati fanboy (and maybe a pussy regarding comfort, but hell...).
My current bike is a well prepped HP4 competition with Z04 pads, and I did testrides (and swapped bikes with friends... -

Range Rover Sport Hse Sdv6
A behemoth of a vehicle. My new car details are specifically for new vehicles with under 500 miles....anything more and they require a deeper clean....this vehicle had just over 1000 miles, and customer agreed to pay for the extra in depth cleaning. First off was wheels attending to with a through rinse of the wheel arches and alloys to remove as much debris as possible before any contact was made.....especially since these wheels were gloss black and I did not want to inflict any wash marring. Arches and tyres were throughly degreased with Britemax Grimeout at 4:1. Then the wheels were generously sprayed with Angelwax Billberry wheel cleaner at 4:1 then left to dwell for a few minutes before I started agitating the dirt with various Wheel Wollies brushes and EZ large detail Brush....they were then each pressure washed off. Wheels again were treated to Bilt Hamber Auto Wheels to dissolve embedded iron - left to dwell then pressure rinsed off. Vehicle was then covered in a blanket... -
For Sale 2002 998s
I didn’t expect to be doing this so soon, but I’m offering my Ducati 998S for sale. I purchased the bike back in July 2016, having wanted one since I was in my teens and expected that I would never sell it but now a lack of space and house move means that it’s the sensible option for me. I’m going to be as honest as I can in my description and summary - so hopefully not going to put off any potential buyers.
I’m sure you will all be aware of the specification of the 998S and the improvements over the base model, so I'm not going to dwell on these - you can see in the photos these include the Ohlins steering damper and rear shock. The bike also has Carbon Termignoni exhausts fitted which help make the bike such an event to ride.
The bike is not a garage queen and has been used regularly in the summer months during my ownership, I’m the 3rd owner. The previous owner ran the bike from 2005 until I purchased it from him, he regularly took trips to IOM TT and Europe as well as the usual... -

Paul Smart
First day of the season on the Smart. A bit nippy and damp, with a lot of debris on the roads - bit of an April Fool maybe?
This is one of only 2000 made to celebrate Paul Smart’s Imola 200 race victory in 1972. I bought this in 2016 from a nice gent in Suffolk who also had a Norton Dominator SS. So far I have loved it. It is certainly a different riding experience from what I’m used to.
The unusual thing about this bike is that I have noticed a trend that people seem to chase me down the road with curiosity and grab me at the petrol pumps. This may be a testament to Ducati’s styling department or may be there are just too few around. -
1260 1200 Abs ('11) Vs 1200s ('15) Vs 1260s
After a considerable wait, the time has come to get my hands on the new 1260S. Together with two friends (one being the owner of the '15 1200S) we got the bike for about two hours and headed to the nearby mountainous areas to test it in the twisties. So we got a chance to do a comparison of the "old" '11 1200 ABS (mine), the next gen '15 1200S and the newest 1260S, by swapping. All the bikes were tested in sports mode, the suspension in default/middle for that setting and they all had the original equipment, except mine that has shorter gearing (42t in the back). Other than that, no changes (no after market exhausts, no quickshifter for the older ones etc.). So, let's see ...
The motors
All motors are great. Period. Quite different in the way they output the power but just great. I don't think you can ask for much more from either of the three. The 1260 is probably the winner but not by much and not for sheer power. There are absolutely no hickups in higher gears and low engine...
