Hi All, Just a quick intro during my work lunch break! Just joined your group after an impulse purchase of an older 1993 888 Strada. My Last Ducati was a 900ss of the same year of which I have good memories
It needs a little TLC as shortly after purchasing it started running on one cylinder, - all electrical connections look suspect and slightly oxidised, so will clean them up and use dielectric/silicon grease.
Taking off the bodywork also revealed a crack in the belly pan area of the fairing lower, so a fibreglass patch on the inside is curing as I write this. I will 'invisibleise' this with a little rosso red
A general service is also planed - replacing a front rocker cover gasket that has leaked oil onto the oil cooler.

On September 5th I was thrown from my Panigale at around 100mph on a track day at Silverstone.
I suffered life threatening injuries (numerous fractures and internal organ injuries) and was given 11 units of blood and plasma (2 at Silverstone, the balance at Coventry Serious Trauma Unit). The Doctors told my wife and children that I may not pull through.

I owe my life to so many but I want to ask your help in supporting The Air Ambulance Service, who airlifted me from Silverstone to Coventry. They were landed at Silverstone within 20 minutes of getting the call from the Medical Centre and, as you no doubt know, exist solely through public donations.

The Air Ambulance Service cover Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rultand. If you do trackdays, that's Silverstone, Donington and Mallory and, if you don't do trackdays, that's a massive road network. They have also been called to attend Cadwell. They also cover the UK for the Children's Air...

New on the forum but have been following a while. Dropped myself in the deep end with a 2005 999, picking it up next week locally to me after it's been MOT'd. It's a European import from circa 10+ years ago, last owner for 5 years but has done minimal mileage, overall fairly clean. It has Ohlins rear, single seat plus pillion and Termignoni pipes with belts recently done.... otherwise I know little else about the bike! Wish me luck

I've had my Multi for just over a year and in that time I've done a few tweeks and mostly ridden my local routes on weekends.

I'd basically treated the Multi like a comfy sport bike. A role it fulfills surprisingly well . I'd gained a repsect for the bike, and really enjoyed it on a Thruxton IAM Skills Days too. It hadn't set my pants on fire so to speak.

This past weekend I headed off to Wales for a few days away with my other half and friends. The bike was pretty loaded up so my girly didn't have to carry any luggage (yes, I am a hero ). To be fair, she was on her KTM RC8R. A bike I have also toured on and whilst good, the extra luggage definately impacts the handling as you've expect on a superbike. It's not as easy to "hoon" about on even with manually dialled in preload etc.

It was a 4.5 hour run to the accomodation (Lake Vyrnwy Hotel which I absolutely recommend!) and back again. We packed in a decent 4 - 5 hours or so each day in the saddle (thank...

Wotcha I don’t post here often but some of you will know me as the admin of the 999/749 owners group and be familiar with this bike.

I’ve been building (some would say f**n up) this bike over a period of 6 years now and only recently after acquiring the unicorn full titanium 749RS Akra system have I gone full send on the homage to the RS replica route.

It leads me to the next thing I want to upgrade. The swingarm! As lovely as the stock 2nd gen swinger is, I love the look of the RS/F, Pieribon, Bursi versions.

So what do people know about them? Share any pics or experiences with fitting them. Is there anything available? Perhaps you have something gathering dust on a shelf somewhere that would make my year .

Hi guys, I picked this 748sp up few weeks ago with the intention of turning it into a classic track day bike but on closer inspection its far to nice for that, so it got me thinking about my 996 project I did few years back and thought I'd do the same to this 748.

The 748 is a 97 sp which I belive to be quite rare and as you can see it's had the frame painted black as have the wheels. So I'm thinking about putting them and the swing arm back to original colours. It's not going to be one for the purists as I still want to use it and track day it if I so wish. So il up grade alot of the plastic to carbon eventually. Big thing is going to be the engine, as with the 996 il get it blue printed, ported heads, balanced crank and new parts thoughout .

Should be a good project for the winter...

Wouldn't start when I bought it as a winter project.
Stripped down to component parts, cleaned everything until its bum squeaked, replaced lots of perished items, fork seals, old fork oil, coolant, filters, caliper seals, brake lines........ on and on an on. Valve stem seals had gone hard due to it sitting unused allowing oil onto inlet valves and baking on to valve seats giving very low compression. Not what I expected from a one owner 7000 mile bike, but proves they don't like sitting unused. Head cleaned-up, valves lapped and shimmed and she started on the button. Runs brilliantly and has been a fun summer alternative screamer, reminds me of mad times in the 90's when we got away with so much. Prefer a V twin though.

yes, two old boys, who should know a lot better decide upon the mother of all race weekends, it was, as they say, emotional. (bike behaved it's self beyond popping the tail light 20 mins from home)

went for the weekend, nice atomosphere, Ducati only managed 43 mins odd before Fores had a collision and bike was beyond salvation. Don't think he was seriously injured, difficult to find comprehensive write up, but this from down under is pretty close to excellent!

Today I went for my very first time on the racetrack. I went to the Mugello because I live not far from it.
I have always been afraid of leaning the bike too much, and the fear remained high even today. I saw three bikes falling into the gravel, which raised my caution level even further.

I was not confident about the grip of my tyres (Metzeler Roadtec 01), but despite being street models, I was surprised (and a little proud) to see them consumed like those of real racers (image). On public roads I usually use the DTC plus the throttle to estimate how far I am from the grip limit, but today the DTC never turned on (or at least i did not notice it) suggesting that I still had a lot of room.

At the end of third session, as I parked the bike, I noticed that oil was dripping from the engine (about half a teacup in total). Fortunately it was just an unscrewed oil filter, but I had an incredible luck that oil did not start leaking while on the track.
