  1. Bike one upmanship - not great.

    Guns one upmanship - stinks.

  2. I wasn't guilty of it.....but when someone tries to tell me a measurement I quoted accurately is something else, don't be surprised I defend what I said.....

  3. Must be my old age but getting confused now,you mentioned 5.6 earlier and now you mentioned two lots of 5.56.I think that we might be at cross purposes. What I am saying is in centre fire form both the .223 and the 5.56 fire bullets which are a nominal .224 in diameter. The cases are ever so slightly different but will normally chamber in both. The point where the measurements are taken differ between them but are in essence fire the same sized round which is bigger than a .22.To emphasise the point,in most modern wheel guns and most gallery guns can chamber and fire both .357 Mag and .38 which appear by definition to be different calibres but have different points of measurement.Obviously a .357 mag has a longer case and more wollop but you will already know that.I am not trying to get into any form of argument ,its not in my nature but just want to clarify.

  4. Not wanting an argument either........

However, I would not wanting to be inserting a 5.6mm round in a 5.56mm barrel.........just a bit tight.

It can get confusing if involving smooth bore as well as rifled.

Also, in the UK, the measurement of the round or across the lands usually dictates calibre, while in the States, they tend to measure across the grooves.

  5. I understood it was built to win speed records and hastily converted to a weapon?

  6. have a a look at Schneider trophy, my simple understanding is same as yours-always happy to be corrected though.

  7. Correct.:)

  8. Err,don't remember the Supermarine Shrew ever having floats or a Napier engine but was designed by the same designer.:)
    But happy to be corrected.......:)

  9. Tried the Glock, felt it was a good qual shoot pistol but really didn't like it for operational use, not happy with the trigger.
We went instead with the Walther P990, a true double action pistol needing a positive action on the trigger to fire a round, far safer IMHO on ops.
Loved the MP5 and the H&K 53 although it was a bit of a faff for me being a lefty.
When we moved over to the G36 I thought all my Xmas's had arrived at once, lovely bit of kit, light, low recoil and accurate.
Sadly no longer get to play with proper big boys toys so I've gone over to rifles & shotguns for recreation instead.

  10. When it comes to 'longs', I did enjoy using a Barrett..................

  11. The GMPG is my favourite. You can't argue with some belt fed, man portable 7.62.

  12. The Glock is a lovely pistol, very easy to maintain, and very reliable.
