Fgm, What About Mgm?

Any mutilation to any child on the basis of some belief in faeries and superstitious theologies is fundamentally wrong on every level of humanity. We evolved into what we are for reasons best known to the progenitors. There is no valid excuse save medical emergencies and such like. You belong to you. No-one else. Although with Fin the point is moot.

 

FGM is cultural not religious it just happens to be practiced by a culture that follow a certain religion .
It is done on the behest of misogynistic old men, to practice control over young women. This is perpetuated within the culture as a right thing to do. Cultures where women are not allowed a voice and treated as second class citizens.
It has been illegal for some 20yrs and yet no prosecution has led yet to a conviction yet.
The cultures involved are adept at subduing women and consequently the corroboration or complaint needed is rarely forthcoming.
It is illegal for a British subject to take a child outside of the uk (not so sure about Scotland) for the purposes of FGM .
We would be far more effective in the prosecution of these cases if it was deemed to be illegal not to divulge the practice.
Girls are now being taken abroad for this to happen at slightly later ages (11 to 12) as they generally will then fall between junior school and senior school and consequently the protective factors outside of the culture but within our society are none the wiser.

The NHS Doctors that remove foreskins are really badly paid BTW but get lots of tips.
