  1. That's good money.

  2. 1600 miles in 4 years ownership?

Why do some people buy bikes?

  3. it's gone........ Thought my search was over........ Let me wipe my tears as they are getting on my keyboard...... Proper gutted...... Oh well

  4. cheers mate. Waiting for them to call me back. Since last week I've looked down the back of the sofa and I'm now in a privileged position to buy an 1198S outright with no finance..... Haha. The wife never needs to know until she wants a holiday and I just look at the bike...... Lol

  5. No probs. Tell them I sent you. :)

  6. Update:

Ducati Manchester have just got back to me ref the 2010 1198S.

its now had a full belt and oil service and also 2 new tyres and little bits sorted which is all good....... However,
the original problem of the DTC not being on the dash and therefore not an option is due to an incorrect ECU. The sales team (Martin) has told me that they will not change the ECU as the expense will be around £1000 and they are not willing to put that money into the bike.

so, they phoned me about 20 minutes ago and told me all this and that the bike would be sold WITHOUT Traction Control. To which I asked them why would I be paying S model money for only 50% of the S model extras (ohlins)?????

i am absolutely gutted and want some opinions on what to do next? I told them I would go in tomoz and have a chat.

£10,800 for a 2010 1198S without DTC is not ideal but I'm immediately thinking, what about when I come to sell it on!

    cheers

  7. Why does it have the wrong ECU? What ever the answer I would be borrowing the forum barge pole for that one. Now your a cash buyer im sure you would be in a better position to get a better deal from a private seller. Waving cold hard ££££'s under the nose is always a deal winner for the buyer

  8. I am a cash buyer. The bike has a full termi system and I believe the ECU has not been changed since original.

Tbh they said the bike would b ready weds this week. I went in on weds and it hadn't even been into the workshop. Martin said he had a back log: but that isn't my problem tbh. I, then went to the service dept which have been spot on n they said that hey weren't happy and that my bike was going in right then. I've not heard one good thing about the sales team at Manchester and 2 big negatives.

The more I think about it, they are rubbish. To spend 11k on a bike, I believe that is quite a lot of money and if I was in sales I would go out of my way to make sure that, that person felt they were getting an 11k service and make sure they were up to date and felt comfortable to which I have/am not.

whilst writing this I am convincing myself to phone and cancel the sale and express my concerns but rekon it will just be water off a ducks back as someone else will buy it and they will not change a thing.

  9. Forget this bike man.

They know it's got what boils down to a £1000 problem and are not willing to fix it? This is their problem if they will take a hit selling it in the correct spec. No buyer should take this on unless they get it for a discount recognising it needs work done.

Why pay full price for a bike with a fundamental issue. It's simply not as it should be. If I was you I'd have walked away well before asking anyone else's thoughts on it all. :(

  10. Couldnt agree more. Walk away.

  11. Absolutely looks like whoever had the termis fitted didn't change the ecu unit.
(What does the display say when you switch the ignition on should be Ducati Racing)????

  12. Walk away from the dodgy ECU bike. Hunt about and I'll bet you find a red/black one that ticks the boxes. I wouldn't touch a bike that had some dodgy ECU, who knows what other issues it could cause. The dealer clearly didn't check the bike and expects you as the new buyer to address their mistake - not the basis for a good relationship.

  13. Even if the ecu wasnt chnaged it ame with DTC so would work, this means its been changed for some reason or someone has had a go at flashing it...dont understand why they cant just have it reprogrammed

offer them 9k and go see CJS and get him to turn it all backon again!

  14. Don't bother can see it being a headache. There plenty more about. 11k might get a SP. You got the cash so go private.

  15. Walk away. I don't understand why you are even still considering this bike.

Have you put a non-returnable deposit on it?

if so insist they return your deposit as the bike is not as advertised. There are plenty of better ones out there and plenty of better dealers by the sounds of it.

Go and have a look at this one. Similar price, lower miles and thye best colours of any Ducati sportsbike ever.

  16. Yip. If you've paid a deposit you are 100% due it back. Not as advertised is not on and negates any withholding of a deposit.

    :(

  17. Surprised a main dealer cant sort it tho. Actually, amazed it wasnt done under pre sales prep

  18. I wouldn't bet against the bike that bike having being raced at some point.
