  4. Great thread...you might find the magnesium covers react with the cerakote....it might, or might not...one side of mine did (had to get it powder coated) the other side didnt...and was fine...

  5. Just about to travel up to Birmingham to drop the forks for refinishing, front wheel finished up last night so just a case of get these sorted and back together and it’s nearly sorted mechanically and ready for a good clean.

rear shock back in with the new spring and a service.

stripped my spare termis and re packed them yesterday, what a delight that was… but think the carbon looks nice with the red

  8. So slow. Still waiting on forks back, few other items arrived. Soon as they are back in I can push on again!

  9. Still no forks… but did get my calipers off last night for a clean, ordered some new banjo bolts etc.

Was lucky enough to get the 916 out this weekend for a quick 100 miles! Bike felt great!!

  10. Forks are back... what a complete shit show. disappointed to say the least. what are my options? can I use the upper tubes and my lowers with another bike?

Firstly he did them blue, don't ask me why... then said he couldn't do the original colour which he said he could do. and now I have them gold but they just look terrible. :(

  12. Firstly the originals are hard anodize. The colour is what it is with hard anodize, it's not something you can chose and it is notoriously difficult to reproduce. Different tanks and different grade aluminium give a different colour. I recently had a few bits re-anodized in hard which were all the same colour when they went in the tank. Half came out much darker than before and half were much lighter.
What you have looks like cosmetic anodize which comes in all sorts of colours but again, can't really match it and I've never seen standard anodize that looks like hard.
The Ti- nitride on your lowers seems to be nearly worn off in places too. It is a extremely hard coating which gives less friction than hard chrome. It's a lot thinner than hard chrome though so when it's worn away it leaves the much softer base metal exposed. It can be redone but it's quite expensive.

  13. Only just discovered this thread and starting my own 996 restoration. What a gold mine! Seems like Moto Rapido are the place to go for parts? Better than ordering from MSP online?

  14. All stuff the expert who told me it would be no problem maybe could have mentioned.

still they will work il prob end up putting them in the track bike as I have sourced a good set from the states finger crossed, just a bit disappointing.

  15. Haha thanks mate they are a great bike to work on!
Luke at motorapido has been so helpful I can’t thank him enough!

  16. I bet you are disappointed. I don't get why people promise the world when they know they can't deliver.
