First Five Bikes

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by mike willis, Apr 17, 2020.

  1. I only knew them as a Lady Dax, hadn’t heard them refereed to as White Lady until now.

  2. He could I guess but they’d still lack the power

  3. It's all news to me

  4. As a school kid, I owned a Norton 500 that I shared with a mate. [totally illegally]
then had unrestricted access to but not owned by me,..
127 Capriola set up as a fully faired race bike
    200 Triumph Tiger cub
    650 Rocket Gold Star
    I then owned
    TS 250 Suzuki
    XL500 Honda
    BMW R80 ST
    BMW R100RS x 2
    VFR 750
    Honda SP2
And then my son converted me to the world of Ducati...

  5. I was about 12. after I was given an SS50 in a box and told, if you wanna ride a bike, you are gonna have to build it first. just used as a field bike.
17th BDay I was standing outside MCS Paisley waiting for it to open to pick up my RD. £814. it got nicked a year and a half later. the day after I made the last payment. must of covered over 20k in those 18months.

  6. Sorry. You are right. Lady Dax is the right name.

  7. I bought my RD125 in January 1986 from Ford and Ellis in Chesham.
Why my mum agreed to it I’ll never know as I wasn’t 17 till the May....
I promised I wouldn’t ride it till I was 17....it had 2000 miles on it on my birthday!!
I actually got pulled over a couple of weeks before my birthday and got a producer, I had no license, insurance etc.
In those days we had the local village copper who my mum and dad knew.
    Somehow he got me off!!
Then on May 18th, 3 days after my birthday, I went to the cinema to watch The Hitcher with my mates. They were on a YPVS, RG250 and a MBX125(don’t laugh!!).
Came out after the film and my lovely RD was gone!!! I’ve hated Rutger Hauer ever since.
And I’ve remembered what happened to my 1100K, I’m not telling as I could cry!!!
Like you Fire, I had no interest in a car license and losing my RD spurred me on to past my test which I did a couple of months later.
    Good days.
