First Ride: Ducati Scrambler Review

Discussion in 'Scrambler' started by Derek, Dec 12, 2014.

  1. It looks pretty good. Very tempted.

  2. Only problem is it's sized like a minimoto for anyone > 75kg

  3. Really? I grew up on bikes that size and they didn't seem like minimotos to me.

    The Scrambler: dry weight - 176.5kg (389lbs), seat height - 31.1" (790mm), wheel base 1445mm (56.9")
    BSA Gold Star : dry weight - 172.4kg (38Olbs), seat height - 30.5" (775mm), wheel base of 1440mm (56")
    Triumph Bonneville T120; dry weight - 165kg (363lbs), seat height - 30.5" (775mm), wheel base of 1396mm (55")
    Norton Commando : dry weight - 190kg (420lbs), seat height - 33" (840mm), wheel base of 1441.5mm (56.75"
    Honda CB750 Four : dry weight - 218kg (481lbs), seat height - 31" (790mm), wheel base of 1460mm (57.75")

Modern bikes have generally gotten taller and heavier.

  4. Agreed, looks ok to me from the links, but I've not see one for real yet.
r1 seat height is 835, so i suppose it might be considered low, triumph bonneville is 740 though, so certainly not the lowest.

  5. Having (and keeping) the HYM SP, getting both feet flat on the ground with the Full Throttle will be a positive joy.

  6. I was at Riders in Bristol on Saturday , one of the guy's was saying that they have taken quite a lot of deposits for the Scrambler.

  8. i'm just back from taking the scrambler for a test ride, i thought it was awesome, I'm riding around barcelona (and the rest of spain) on my multistrada which is ok but heavy and unwieldy in the traffic, so the scrambler was excellent for city riding, nimble, quick enough, i liked the light clutch and it was easy to ride, my feet were flat on the ground when waiting at the lights, the multi? I'm on tiptoe even with the lower seat Oh and its a very pretty bike.
i will certainly be getting one, even if its just for the city and keeping the mutley for the long runs, the 999 for speed, the 999r for a investment, the 900s cos i can the 750 gt cos now thats a cool bike..........

  9. I'm 5ft 7 and I could touch the floor nicely even though I had 2inch wedges on
It's quite wide when your sat on it though (may have been jeans)
    It's a comfy fit
It's wider than my SS and I touched the floor nicely on that
