  1. They are the engine that is used in most cooler boxes.
Even better they can generate electric.
If you put one side on your boiling hot tea and other on an ice cube and it could charge your phone.
    1A at 5V typical.

  2. And Chiz you don't really know what a Martini is, do you?
And this isn't the correct answer.

  4. For new build commercial property gas is banned. I know this for a fact because my family company has just built a new shop premises in Chiswick. Everything had to be electric and all of the gas piping that the contractor started had to be ripped out. The running costs - according to my meter readings - ARE NOT IDENTICAL. Also you can't connect a 3kw electric water heater to the ring main (or, at least, shouldn't). Mine is connected to the ring main and as I showed in my meter readings, I am using hardly any power. The meter readings are what they are and I have no need to fake them.

There is NO misinformation! I have a 10 year guarantee and I've kept an eye on my electric meter readings and my electrical use is minimal.

I've no need to fake or make anything up. It works and I know how, No magic, no fake and it is what it is and seems to work really well. I did my cycle exercises this morning and just showered. I turn on the shower and get as much hot water as I want. I am checking my meter readings daily.

If I had known about this a couple of years ago, then I would of pushed to put it in our commercial property - it would of been a great selling point, especially for a gym with showers going all day.

  6. so...
What we are saying is, oh no...
I'm definitely out of my depth here.
but I'll give it a bash cos im bored.. energy is energy and how it is produced and used/stored is irrelevant . It takes the same amount of evengy to produce a given result no mater where it comes from or how it is stored ( except that storing it may or may not result in some loss of energy) and weather that energy is used to directly produce a given result or stored for later for the same purpose it will cost you the same....? Or some shit like that.... am I close? What do I win?

  7. Nearly right... apart from Gas energy is 1/3 to 1/4 the price of Electric per Kw/Hr.

  8. Burning free pallets, smashed up, under a tin bath provides a cheap way of getting clean. Especially if you use roof runoff water..:upyeah:

  9. That may offend the neighbours, especially if the bath overheats.

  11. Those in the caravan next to us use the same method.

    Although less frequently.

  12. What is this "getting clean" you speak of?

  15. I don't understand the notion that gas is a " very bad thing " , in the same way that I don't get people who think that plugging-in their electric car means that they've somehow earned " Green credibility points "
.... talk about not seeing beyond the end of the nose !!

Let's say I need 100 liters of hot water at a given temperature , asap , with all energy options available .
What is the cheapest way of getting what I want ?

  16. Gas Banned - Err No
Wrong - My Colleagues are installing Gas boilers and heaters and Blowers every week in Commercial premises.
Last time you raised this I double checked with two of them independent of each other and both said "Rubbish".
They are both GAS Safe Registered.

Perhaps it was a planning issue with Chiswick Council?
I know Surrey push heat pumps like mad.

    Running Costs
Wrong, Your Running costs WILL BE identical as PCM has no efficiency advantage over direct electric heat.

    Electrical Connections
Wrong, You can plug a 3kW electric anything into a ring main.
Anything that is permanent, i.e. not portable should be connected to a spur outlet.

As a matter of interest are you saying your installation is illegal and that the installer didn't meet IEE regulations with regard to a permanent electrical connection?

You did check to see if he was a qualified electrician, as the householder that is your responsibility?

Surely he gave you an electrical safety certificate for the installation.
You also need to register the installation with the council.
