Just after the outlet pipe of the catalytic converter is an in-line, mechanical valve operated by a small electric motor and cable. Its purpose is to meet noise limits at the test revs. The valve commonly seizes shut which strangles the exhaust flow, which cuts power and revving. Lots of mods available to either keep the valve permanently open or totally removed. Andy
