For Sale: 2004 749r (carbon Model) With 4.5k Miles

Discussion in 'Ducati Bikes For Sale' started by steeevvvooo, May 23, 2014.

  1. Now reduced to £8k. Is it really overpriced? Feedback appreciated.

I know this is a limited audience but I though this would appeal to Ducatisti rather than your average eBay buyer.

I'lll put it on autotrader next week if no interest.

  2. £7500 last December for a slightly suspect one with no termi's. Doesn't seem over priced compared to what I have seen over the last 8 months.

A very dodgy one with no carbon, no lights, with high mileage and no termi's sold at 5k in December too

  3. Looks sensibly priced to me. You might think about putting the original exhausts back on and selling the Leo one separately - that would bring in a bigger overall haul.

  4. I paid £8000 for a 999R with full Termi serpent system fitted less than a year ago from Ducati Manchester (4500 miles) so yes, over priced going by this I guess.

  5. Wow. That seems like a great deal you got there! I've never seen a 999r for that sort of money. :upyeah:

I'll give it a few days then test autotrader. I had some enquiries through here at the higher price but its still for sale hence my wondering about the (now lower) price as a blatantly overpriced bike wouldn't really even have enquiries.

  6. one swallow does not a porn star make....ie hold ground as price seems about where others are..depends on how desperate you are to sell

  7. Put it this way... I wouldn't be upset if I have to keep it ;) The next bike will hopefully be in the garage next week and is not dependent on selling this.

Patience is a virtue (that I lack)

  8. I think you're on the right kind of money. I spent most of the winter looking at 749's of every variety.

    7 to 8k for a carbon 749R is what I'd expect.

  9. Generally Ducati R's are thought to have reached their lowest value at 50% original price (not sure what the list was for these?)- this has been true so far at least, so I tried to get mine for just under this and luckily succeeded. They are definetley on the turn northwards in value though and have been for a year or two I guess. It is difficult with this type of bike as some dealers really push the boundaries with there asking prices. My second swallow was a 999R Fila with 1500 mile for £10,000 a year ago - there is one at a dealer now with 3 x the mileage for £14000. Another swallow? but it was for sale for over a month before I purchased and no one else did. Personally I would stick out for what you want or keep it if you don't need to sell as it will probably make more money than in the bank and much more than if your wife spends it!

  10. Here's an example of what I mean...
SPR MV 750 @ Padgetts 700 mile for £12000, been for sale nearly 2 years
SPR MV 750 Senna at another dealer 3000 miles £15,000
SPR MV 750 2500 miles £9000 for sale but not advertised, I think I could get for £8000

    It's a mine field out there ;)

  11. I know of a mint, low miles Fila 999R that went for less than £7k this year.

  12. Why didn't you tell me! :( there was a mint 'track bike' 999R showing 3000 miles still with carbon fairings on Ebay for £6000 asking price I nearly looked at a month ago - no money at the time...

  13. Because I know who bought it!

  14. You? I'd have given £7005 :) any more bargains anywhere?

  15. I don't care if I am supposed to be selling bikes... If you see another like that let me know as I'm a buyer!!! :)

Same with all bikes I guess. Im hoping to collect a nice S spec monster 1100 next weekend for less than some ratty base spec ones I've seen sell.

  16. Why not give the guy a break and let him sell his bike rather than just trying to undermine and drive his price down? Or make him an offer. I'm sure have all seen and had the occasional bargain, just like many have paid over the odds because they just wanted it.

  18. If you need the money put the original exhaust on take 7-7.5K and flog the Leo system on eBay. Don't get rid of it for any less, it will only go up in time and is a cracking bike. I have owned chops, cruisers, customs as well as my 1098s & 998s - I still think my 749r (with a load of rs parts mind) is the best bike I have ever ridden on the road and still the one that puts biggest smile on my face when riding it.

  19. Not sure I get your quote? Reading from the smiley I take it as a suggestion that I asked for feedback which I now don't like the sound of hence the finger? Maybe a misinterpretation on my part?

There are many knowledgeable people on here who's opinion on value I value (excuse the pun). I have a great bike. Seen in the flesh by people on here. I should really sell as i need the space, but not the cash. If I can find a way to get the wife to allow me to keep it in the living room it will never be sold :)

Anyway... Sometimes bikes go for a steal. I have bought and sold such bikes. However, a carbon 749R is special enough that is not getting sold for bargain basement prices and the concensus seems to be that I am at least priced fairly.

ETA: I would definitely like to source some of these bargain bikes. There is always room for something special, which I think any R bike is, in my garage. I don't doubt any of the prices, I just think they are lucky finds for the buyers. :):upyeah:
