  6. Also dug out standard Ohlins springs from 2010 S Touring model, mine were uprated. If any skinny lightweights who may have bought a bike with uprated suspension and want to convert back to standard £30 for front and rear springs.

Also straight set of standard bars for £20 just in case somebody has crashed their bike and bent the bars. + p & p
    Way cheaper than new prices

  9. Long shot but does anyone have a top box they would swap for my side panniers? Alternatively is anyone interested in my red side panniers?

  10. I'm selling my red 2011 Multistrada 1200 Sport Touring. I'm the 2nd owner.
Both keys. Full Ducati service history and paper work. Clocks changed at 22500 miles so service light is in sync with mileage. All Ducati updates done. (coolant, rear brake, steering lock).
    Bike has the following extras:
Ducati Top box, E Scotoiler, Motech crash bars, DP touring screen, R&G engine covers, Evotec front fork spindle bungs, Motech fog lights. key less fuel cap.
Rear Michelin PR4 fitted at 23,480 miles. New DID x-ring heavy duty chain & OE sprokets fitted at 26,113 miles.
Mileage is 27,800 and is having it's 30,000 mile Desmo service done at the end of this month. Will sort pictures at end of month as away with work.
Looking for £7400. it's in good condition and is garaged.
    Please pm me if interested.
    Thanks.

  11. A Bargain price for a machine that's had everything done...good luck.
15,000 trouble free miles till the next big service!

  12. ACT, yep it's a fair price I feel. Undecided as to what to get next. Something with a shaft perhaps!!

  13. Buy a 990SMT only after an extended test ride. The low speed fuelling is diabolical - much worse than that.
Ride it like you nicked it and it's an unbelievably rapid and competent machine.
But be sure you can put up with fuelling before you commit - there are many suggestions and ways to improve the situation, I've tried em all. They never fully cure the problem. It's 30mph on a steady throttle that's the worst - if you are constantly see-sawing on the throttle then you'll be fine. If you're uber smooth - you'll hate it.

  14. Need to copy the add to Machines for sale in the main forum, as this is where most people would go to buy a Mutley.

  15. Full Ackro Evo, SAS removal and remap is the answer I understand.
You still got yours?.......I'd be very interested (and grateful) to hear more from you...

  16. Don't believe all you read on forums ;-)

The problem is deep seated with the engine design - similar issue to the early MTS - and the cure was similar - i.e. twin spark head with revised combustion chamber; al la RC8 engine.
I ran all the above and more on my 2x990's - all to no avail.
N.B. the issue is ONLY with small throttle openings at lower speeds - any inconsistencies at higher machine velocities / throttle openings go largely unnoticed / disappear altogether.
You can just open the air recirc & throttle valves with s/w - the SAS removal myth was a legacy of the 950 engine, on the 990 you can't tell the difference between removal and s/w bypass. Leaving the throttle valve in actually helps air speed - so I'd stick to a remap.
Full Akro versus 'cans only' doesn't yield much either as the OE headers are pretty good and the cats are in the cans.
If you don't mind nodding dog syndrome through towns - plus heat soak like you wouldn't believe - then there is very little to criticise with the SMT.
I'd pop some decent aftermarket cans on, get a custom tune (Akro map eats fuel) done to leave the low speed maps largely untouched, but increase power at the top end (where fuel use is less of an issue) and set the suspension up.
If you find the throttle too snatchy then change the throttle cam - kit of three available from KTM powerparts.
    Then just enjoy the bike.
    Hope this helps?

  17. Andy

phanson is right the fuelling as standard is crap, however mines been moddified and its miles better than my mates standard one. The list of mods can be found here. Lots of reading.

It's a great bike but still not a Multi......it's better in some ways and worse in others. However from your point of view you can get an awful lot of bike for a lot less money. It's the only viable alternative to a Multi. There's not many around and dealers are asking a lot for them, but if you shop around like I did, you'll find the right bike at a very attractive price.

Buying a house plus a 2 month ride to Mongolia meant that sadly I sold my 1200 plus another bike and settled for an SMT

    Good luck

  18. Thanks BDG.................."It's the only viable alternative to a Multi." - that's exactly my thought! :D
Already downloaded the kevxtx doc ;-)

phanson.....thanks again! - appreciate your taking the time to enlighten me. As we're so off topic I'll take this to PM ;-)

  19. i sold my multi and have just bought a new bmw gs1200te and i have to admit even after lifting it i was unsure. But now after riding it and over 1000miles on it, i really love everything about the bike, does everything the multi did, only with more comfort, less maintenance, no worrying about something stopping/breaking and they hold their value for resale when the time comes.

i still like the multi but as they get older they become less in demand as no one wants to buy them due to ongoing problems & large bills for service and or repairs, and to be honest even though this site is probably the most informative & best forum for any bike ive been on, it does make you question the ownership of the bike it promotes ...

  20. Interesting each to their own, but if I hadn't needed the money I'd of had no qualms about keeping my 2010 model Multi despite the mileage as apart from one replacing one ecu for the rear shock, it was faultless in 3 years and 17,000 miles.

Friends in the trade tell me the new GS has a number of issues and one person I know has been given a new bike to replace his nightmare "new" GS so I don't think BM's are without their problems. However I'm not slagging off your decision and good luck with it
