Replicating it was certainly easy, anyone could do it, but I do like Banksy's ideas - there's a lot of wit and some genuinely thought-provoking stuff, which def does make his work art in my view. Me copying it though is definitely NOT!

@ Matt - Tracy Emmin has a definite talent for self-publicity ! I agree though - she has no artistic talent whatsoever...
Once someone has had an original idea, other people can always copy the hardware. The merit of art (if any) lies in the ideas, not in crafting the copies. Tracey Emin, for all her self-obsession and many other faults, has had some ideas which bore no resemblance to anything anybody had ever done before.
like nobody has seen a messy bedroom, or been well and truly plastered when in the company of other people, which as far as im aware are the only two things Ms Emin is known for. The artist version of Louie Walsh really :tongue: I will however say that 'ideas' are priceless
I'm sorry, but I just don't buy into this whole "it's about the concept" idea. It's not, it's about turning an original idea into something that actually has artistic merit - I can see no artistic merit in a pile of bricks or an "unmade bed". The talent that Tracy Emin and her ilk have is to persuade gullible middle-class Guardian readers that what she does is artistic and somehow representative of a worthy "concept". Becoming fashionable is the difficult bit; turning out a pile of sh*te and calling it "art" is easy... Obviously different people will quantify "artistic merit" in different ways and that is something that could ( and probably will ) cause a whole new line of argument... This is, of course, purely my opinion - feel free to disagree...
