  1. Think it’s just a legality thing, Akra exhaust isn’t road legal, so Ducati can’t sell the bike for road use with it fitted. If you decide to fit it and ride “illegally” that’s on you. (Mine will be fitted during pdi)

  2. I wish they would just sell a track only version as its frustrating having to spend extra money on a load of metal that is not used.

  3. I was talking to a mate about the same thing last night. More and more of these sports beasts seem to head directly to track. more manufacturers should make track/race versions to buy direct from the factory/dealers at a reduced price.

  4. Reduced price lol You'd have to pay a premium ;)

  5. Yamaha do the R6 as a race bike which is something I'd consider. Thats the sort of level I was thinking, club racer type budget rather than mega money stuff.

  6. Yeah - less is more sir..:D
Looks like Ducati Glasgow have speciale in stock, so fuck the speculators, hope they get burned.

  7. Agree, look at the porsche and aston martin lightweights, stripped the hell out but tens of thousands more

If I were to get that heavy involved the r6 route would appeal more, the difference in cost could mean more racing and track time.

  8. Sorry but that is not true. Bikes must be maintained by a Ducati dealer to ensure the warranty is valid.

  9. I don't think legally the is the case, you can even use non OEM parts / oils etc so long as they are deemed equivalent from what I have heard

  10. I guess this means bikes too... looks like you have to use OEM parts but not a main dealer

You are not obliged (since October 2003) to get the car serviced by a franchise dealer during the warranty period. You must though get it serviced according to the manufacturer's recommended schedule and criteria using only manufacturer approved parts.

  11. Car and bikes are different, block excemption affects all others but bikes, but you can use anyone you like to service still, but expect to pay for a warranty claim then have reimbursement if the claim was challenged. Non oem will give cause for a manufacturer to dispute a claim. Broken engine showing broken belt, even if fitted by a OEM dealer, would have to be proved as consequential damage, not the cause, by the punter.

  12. Not quite. But makes a claim difficult

  13. Ducati main dealers in the USA have used Chris's belts - but their laws will be very much different over the pond...

  14. My daughter works at a Kia dealer in the warranty/service department and I asked her about thier 7 year warranty. She said the rules are that to maintain the warranty, the work if not done by a main dealer, must use Kia official parts, have been serviced as per the Kia schedule and by a vat registered garage but above all must be able to prove it, i.e. receipts

I believed that the same rules that cover cars , covers bikes as long as the work is done as per the manufacturers standards and requirements and is provable?

Ducati's warranty seems to bare this out http://www.ducati.com/services/warranty/index.do

if you did go big with a limited edition v4 though, myself I would stick to ducati dealers given the cost should give you gold star treatment

  15. This, 100%. Ltd edition or not they will have the same issues that any Ducati will have and you can bet you will not be getting as valuable a service from The Bike Specialists. That said I'm sure a main dealer would be happy enough to get the custom of anyone that spends £35k on a bike anyhow so it would not be an issue?

  16. Only thing I noticed on their warranty is and does not apply to motorcycles used in sporting competitions of any type;

If I was buying one for the track, I'd have to be confident in my own mind that the warranty still covered stuff like track days as so far most of the mentions of the v4 seem to be about track use?

  17. Thats on all the warranties for the older Panis as well. It's not an issue in the UK or the rest of Europe. I have heard stories of issues in the US on those lines though.

  18. A local Dyno geezer told me he runs in a lot of Aprilia V4's on the Dyno for 600 miles so the warranty is valid for track bikes

  19. I was referring to the purchase, buy from where you want , take your dealer stamped book (N/A - yet on a brand new V4) to any main dealer & make your warranty claim within 2 years of registration.
