Four Grand Markup On First Two Speciale In The Uk :(

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Monners, Apr 7, 2018.

  1. Fascinating/ terrifying stuff.

  2. What is the running in period on the 1199?

  3. According to the handbook exactly the same. 2 stage, don’t exceed 6000rpm for the first 1000km then maximum 7000rpm for the next 1500km. Andy

  4. 600 miles. It's not so bad on the twin as even with limited revs you have a fair bit of torque to play with but on the inline 4 BMW is was depressing.

  5. Erm really!? ooh....deffo did that ... honest.

  6. Wow. Wonder how many folks stuck to that?

  7. I wonder what SMC have had to say to Ducati about that?

  8. NEIN!

  9. That’s pretty standard. All my previous bikes, and I include all the jil4’s, also had the same limits iirc.

That said I just used to rag the jap bikes from the off.

  10. But they only bought two :p

  11. As far as I am aware, the bikes were purchased outright from the dealer in Germany so I don’t know what Ducati UK or SMC can do about it. I also have no idea if there are restrictions in a dealer’s contract that prevents them from selling bikes in other markets where Ducati already have dealerships. Andy

  12. I’d be amazed if there weren’t territorial restrictions in their contracts. I’d insist on it to protect me from situations like this cropping up.

  13. Interesting topic. Someone will pay the price. At least it shows that they are finally in production. Hoping to hear from the dealer sometime this month.

  14. Have they announced the prices in the U.S. yet Irish? Current currency conversions put them at around $49,700

no worries, found the prices by using a ducati dealers in Colorado and Austin Texas, they have kept the prices but just swapped over the pound sign for the dollar one, on that basis, the limited edition in the states is equivalent to £28,200 and the base v4 at £14,950 plus the state taxes depending on the state.

  15. 40K for the pretty one.

  16. I saw they seem to be have a mrrp at $39,995 throughout the states but that is why I checked Colorado and Texas who have two different sales taxes to go ontop. From what I can see? Texas is around 6.2% new bike tax on top and Colorado is around 7.6% new bike tax on top. I can't see much discounting happening on any of the v4 range for at least the first 6 months (traditional bike season)

  17. Must be cheaper to ship to a non EU country  isn't that fab of the EU  maybe we should wait until next year o_O

  18. Yeah, no deals to be made as far as I know. Sales tax here is 7.75% I believe, add that to the pipe change and she wont be cheap. Got to love Ducati.

  19. The Aprilia V4 has a similar running in period. Due to the characteristics of the V4, on the road, running in should still bring plenty of smiles per mile.

My 1290 was only 550 miles but I could still feel the engine improving at 2,000. It’s common to still have very marginal gains with these bikes at 10-15k miles.

Anyway, 1,500 miles is a month of sunny weekends so stop moaning and ride the things :D. Unfortunately the way the UK weather is going that will be the whole of 2018...

  20. This is my point! Allowing for time off work that also corresponds with non-monsoon conditions, for most people it’s going to be 2019 before they even know what the bike is like!

As you say though, there are worse problems to have.
