While I get everyone can do whatever they want to their own bike, what is the point of pretty expensive frame plugs? I can't help thinking they probably hide potential corrosion, trap moisture and maybe stop you seeing an issue. For me they don't look good anyway but I'd be more concerned at not seeing the real state of the bike. The trellis frame for me looks best authentic from the factory and a dose of ACF50 in the frame holes makes sense. Just my view but other than subjective aesthetics do they offer anything?
I'd say they keep moisture out, a careful dose of acf50 in right place and then plugs in should stop corrosion, surely?
Yes it is a shame as they are quite well made but the top and bottom frame tubes are bevelled at the ends and thus they dont fit that well. The point of frame plugs Count, is the same point as any bling. Why put Rizoma levers on when the OEM work fine? Its just bling and tidies up things. Next time I am The Box, I shall study your bike and see what 'bling' you have. :Watching: BTW this was on an 1198.
My bikes are all bling free. Any changes I have made I there because they are essential items I need for safety, security and to ensure my investment is sound. Having said that, I'm divorced 5 years now so forget that bollocks and justifications - it's my bike(s) and I'll do whatever I want until it resembles a tart's flower box. I need fancy levers, fluid pots, carbon fibre to lose 50g in weight and assorted baubles. I just think frame plugs look pants.
Thats fair enough Count. Everyones taste differs. I dont like to have my pressure plate too fancy or my clutch cover to intricate. (i prefer the oem steel). Neither do I go overboard with CF. Small amounts only. But neither do I want my bike to look too OEM. I especially dislike it when people go overboard with anodizing in contrasting colours. Like all the engine case bolts. But thats only me. If someone likes that, fair play to em.
Bling free count? Have you not gone for the pikes peak? Is that not the bling version of a multistrada?
My Pikes Peak latest toy has no bling, it's a standard bike. I've even removed bits since it arrived. Levers I swapped for ergonomics, other bits for protection. Rear LEDs and tail tidy are "safety" features. Honest.
My SF is now back to basic before the KTM arrives and I have to admit, doesn't look too bad. Sounds gash without "safety feature" Termis. My 749 came with carbon stuff so it's not my fault. My new Cagiva is more rat bike than bling when Chris finally sells it to me.
