  1. If it wasn't quite perfect I wouldn't have a problem but these ain't anywhere near fitting. Anyway, all sorted and as I say, fair play to paul for sorting it.

  2. I hope its true when they say any publicity is good publicity

  5. I didn't know you are who you are, until this thread happened, so if anything I'm now more brand aware than I was before. So it must have some good effects. I won't name your business here though as it'll come up in a search engine. Do you do Japanese stuff too?

  6. yes but maybe contact me directly Tom.:upyeah:

  7. Heretic - asking that here, in the open air!! you should be conducting that sort of dialogue, in a dark back alley... wearing a rain streaked gabardine mac...

  8. I RIDE A JAPANESE MOTORCYCLE AND EVERY TIME I HIT THE STARTER BUTTON IT STARTS!!!!! I'm not ashamed!

Mrs Rowley bought me a lovely Ducati tshirt from Italy for my birthday. At the next ride out I might wear that and ride my *ahem*.

I'm sure someone will have a heart attack or be forced to push me off

  9. At my next ride out i will have to choose between my 916 or my 1198. I might wear a levi's t-shirt. I will scowl at any R6's that disappear in my mirror.

  11. I'd threaten to be in front the whole time but I'm not a fast rider so there's no chance of that happening.

I'll just appreciate your bike and enjoy riding mine ;)

I cant leave anyway, the yam forums don't have a lounge and they're dead.

  12. :upyeah: we'd miss you!

  13. I bought one of these, and was impressed that it was issued so quickly, and the part looks reasonable.... but I guess that's because I don't yet have the bike to try it on with.

Anyway, I won't be asking for a refund as that was the terms we agreed to, and a tip of the hat to Paul for refunding those that feel mislead (i.e. didn't read the offer terms).

Meanwhile, if anyone does have tips / advice on making it fit, please share :)

  14. Hows about bin it and buy one from him when he's got his ones back in stock?

I get the impression that some feel that I'm being unreasonable here. Yes the terms were no refunds (I can and did read), but it was also supposed to be a part to fit an 848 which needed some slight modification. By Paul's own admission, he hadn't tried them on a bike to see how far out they were. I've tried and the one I have is miles out. It's not a slight modification or a bit of sanding to make sure it clears the tank.

Noone on the forum was party to the email I sent Paul about the guard so I can see that I might be coming across as a bit unreasonable. I contacted him to say the guards were a long way out and that he might want to contact the people he'd sent them to as it might effect the reputation of his business. I also said in that email that I wasn't after a refund as I was sure they were offered in good faith....Paul then offered to refund me the postage costs which I think is the right thing to do.....I don't, for the record, feel he had to post here to say he'd done it but there you go.

I would hope that Paul has contacted the business he bought them from and let them know they are substandard and to get his money back so I sincerely doubt that he's out of pocket. I'm sure that they were offered in good faith by him but I also know that I bought them from him in good faith, and on the basis that they needed a little sanding, rather than as a part that was never going to fit. If he'd been offering them as 'key guards that could never be made to fit an 848' I suspect less of us would have been interested.

Seriously, if you can get them to fit, fair bloody play.....I'll look forward to seeing pictures.

And well done to Paul (again) for dealing with it well.
