French Motor rail

  1. In rural areas you should get a nice B&B for about £60. If you want something nicer you'll be looking at £70 plus...

  2. I'm a city centre person. If I'm away I like to stay central where there's plenty to see and do. Worth a bit extra in my book.

  3. Never spent more than £50 to £60 for decent 3 star stuff in France, never book and always inspect the rooms, then you have no nasty surprises, and some Jems to be found too.

  4. Meant train not ferry. And you'd still need the crossing to France to. Reckon ferry way forward if you font want the rude to be part of the trip

  5. You've been to the pub, haven't you...

  6. Has anybody thought of asking the track day firms who organise euro trackdays about there road transport put your bikes on a truck locally and then fly out and meet your bike wherever?

  7. Oddly enough I've done just that recently. I was looking to get 4 bikes to Spain, and the general response was negative. The few that replied said they may be able to if the trackdays were undersubscribed, but they wouldn't be able to say yes or no until a couple of weeks before they loaded up, which cuts it too fine if you're trying to plan a trip. However if you're going alone and just need the one bike transported I'd say you'd stand a very good chance of getting your bike transported. No idea on price though, we never got that far.

  8. Been looking for transport firms and there is one called chas mortimer transport setrvices that specialise in bike transport that look good.

  9. Chas Mortimer is a big name in the world of motorcycling, I sincerely hope he hasn't been reduced to driving around in a van to make a living. According to Wiki he's the only person ever to win FIM grand prix races in 125, 250, 350, 500 and 750 classes.

  10. I did the Chas Mortimer racing school at Brands in the 80's on a VF400!

  11. I did similar at Donington, I think it was called the Honda Britain race school or summat, still VF400s but with Rocket Ron humiliating us all...
