  1. really? so advertised price might be with all the gear included?

  2. Breaks European law and French law. Just the same as keeping a Romanian/Polish registered car in the UK.
You could ask the DVLA, but they have no knowledge of and are not interested in French motoring law.

  3. Perhaps they are very rich and have no problems with paying more than EU citizens do for everything. Americans need a Carte de Sejour (residence card) to live here, just as any non EU citizens will. I believe that they also need a visa to visit, just as EU citizens do to visit the US. That will apply to others visiting the UK after brexit, so don't expect any different when UK citizens come to the EU. I don't have all the answers, no one does, but what the UK is demanding, expect the EU to demand too. No freedom of movement springs to mind.

  4. Do Norway or Swiss citizens need that? Bearing in mind we are all Europe...

  5. No idea, but both Norway and Switzerland have close cooperation with the EU and Norway has agreed to be part of the free movement of people, something that the UK is dead set against. Why not look it up in Google?

  6. Why not just anticipate UK will have the same, rather than perpetuate doom and gloom?

  7. If you don't like the answers then don't ask the questions. The fact is that the UK does not want freedom of movement, so do you expect that the EU is going to allow it? It is not doom and gloom, but fact. The UK is leaving the club by a majority vote, the clubs facilities will not and are not available to non members.
One of the main things that the UK government is on about is stopping EU citizens coming to the UK as they wish, if you think that the EU is going to allow UK citizens the privileges of EU member states then you are living in cloud cuckoo land.
Your previous post where you asked:
made me think that either you are not capable of looking things up on Google or you are just a troll trying to get a reaction. Surly you are intelligent enough to know the difference between Europe - a continent, and the EU - a trading club, to put it simply.
Google an further questions as I can't be bothered.

  8. Is it doom and gloom or just realistic? Isn't the only thing not changing in the negotiations that the UK will not accept free movement? We have already rejected the Sweden/Norway model of interaction with the EU. If we don't accept free movement then the EU is sure to reciprocate. Now, whether a visa is a £10 form filled in at the channel tunnel or a pre-applied for visit to the consulate remains to be seen. However, once you get into visas then residency must become more difficult..... I'm sure the EU will be open to something sensible (as long as the UK is) as it is in everyone's interest e.g. the southern Spanish economy is a bit reliant on the UK. However, free movement will cease.

  9. basically thats why i decided to go ahead and buy place in france now. not to wait till next year as not sure if it will become more difficult paperwork wise.
once bought i cant see how i can be stopped from using it as non-resident?

  10. And yes I did know. And no I wasn’t trolling. But yes I was being sarcastic as the rest of Europe are OK but U.K. apparently not.

Sigh. Let’s not descend yet another useful discussion into Brexit/Scotland independence/Tories are bastards. The End :)

Sounds like there are plenty of bargains to be had in France, more so than Spain maybe. Do the French traditionally own or rent homes? I always wonder how much that has a bearing on pricing. Can’t be many places in U.K. where you can bag an inhabitable detached house for under £150k never mind one with 3 bedrooms, a barn and land!

  11. Wow, who has said that they will stop you using it? I would not believe them. You might end up paying much higher local taxes on the place and you may have to obtain a visa to visit, but no one knows yet.

  12. Obviously do your homework before hand, check area, climate, access, infrastructure etc
    Money, I used Transferwise
Cheapest option by a long way.
Apply for Carte de sejure asap, see Brexit..
Taking a gamble by hoping to get all sorted by March 2019
Again, if serious do a proper google! You will need evidence of income. Private health insurance etc

Taking vehicles, non modified, you need certificate of conformity (thanks Bob) receipts for purchase showing VAT paid, reg docs, certificate from centre des imports when you get there, now an online application as well, no longer via prefecture. Will do a write up about if I have success!

  13. To add to finding a property:
Identify the area you like, really need to narrow things down, France is BIG.
Use googlemaps and search for estate agents in 'nearby'
You should then see agents on maps. Click on them. The decent ones will have a website you can search.
There are lots of crap agents and sites with thousand of properties, these are frequently too out of date, offers accepted etc when you follow them up.

  14. It’s one thing that becomes apparent quickly once you start that google or right move search: Spain, France, Germany are just so large compared to countries of U.K., webreally are quite small in area terms by comparison

  15. I'd be more concerned about the window cleaners wages, looks like a salary job.

  16. Well, it is a NO for few reasons. Probably for a better as place was way too big . Would have cost Few € to run. Or thou would have been fun to own a castle...
