I have the m4-32, and if you take out the pads before removing the calipers it is really easy. Is it so difficult with just 5mm more in diameter? Really interesting, the only disc with more than 5mm in thickness was the Supersport (maybe the T-drive), and I didn't know about a 6mm one. Did the disc have the same number of screws on the rim? I believe it has a different distance between the face of the disc and the rim (sorry, I don't know the word in English... Offset maybe? It is "Campanatura" in Italian)
Unfortunately due to my budget having only worked a few day since you know what, I will go for 320mm. Probably Oros but how do EBC and others compare to Oro in quality?
I'm really interested in this. Where did you get the disc from and what else is needed for the upgrade?
Ok understood. Mine is way too powerful, this is the setup: - Brembo serie oro, Diavel first model - Diavel caliper 30/32. It was used on some bikes as front caliper, so... - ... I could use front Brembo sintered pads, can’t find the code at the moment. There are less aggressive pads too obviously - Brembo Ps11 pump, to increase the ratio - an aluminium heat shield purchased before everything else... I think it does nothing but it surely does not harm, so I’ll leave it there. Never had a problem since then, really happy, but I came from a continuously overheating 245mm, the difference was huge.
Strangely enough my rear locked up on me when I completely misjudged an up coming bend. ABS was on setting 3. Probably the only person not to complain about their rear brake!!
Problem with the rear on old 1200 like mine (2010-2012) was that it could lock but it was hardly noticeable before that point. And if you tried to use it to stabilize the bike somewhere like the stelvio pass going downhill (maybe 2up with luggage), the brake would fade so much that it would be impossible to use it until a sufficient cooldown and/or change of fluid. It was not necessarily bad for every use anyway, and even for every rider.
Hi guys, I’ve just done the brakes all round on my 2017 DVT S, I overlooked the disc diameter and ended up with a set of serie oro’s that are 320mm, I’ve read above that someone quoted “78B408A4” As the 330mm front disc part number, can someone who’s fitted them confirm that is the correct number please.
Ok, I received the reply from Brembo, the correct code is the one I wrote, the 78B408A4 , the other one in the link was the 320mm one, 4,5mm thick. I confirm, it is the 330mm x 5mm thickness.
Awesome, thanks for that. The 320mm discs I purchased fit perfectly, the product code is 78B40878 5.5mm thick
So looking at getting 320mm Oros, but I am very confused by which Brembo pads to put in. For ref I normally use EBC HH pads or similar. I wouldn’t mind something with a little more bite than EBC HH, any recommendation?
If you have the stock p4, I always used the ZCOO with satisfaction. Since I put the M4-32, I used the Brembo 07BB38SC
As I mentioned I have a S/H set for sale if these are the ones you want or anyone else is interested? Cost me £240 at the time, looking for £100 plus postage
what’s this about upgrading the rear brakes on a multi? I’ve got a 2017 S touring, is there a disc and calliper upgrade available for that? So it’s looking like I too am going to have a set of used serie oro 320mm discs for sale, I’ve got my MOT booked in for tomorrow, so they will have about 10miles wear on them.
Hi there Cog head. I tried to DM you, but doesn’t seem possible for some strange reason. could you maybe DM me instead
Did you fit the smaller disc? And if you did have you noticed any major differences in braking performance? Also did you remove the 5mm calliper spacer to get the correct contact area on the disc?
Hi, Yes I fitted the smaller discs, and ounce I realised, I did remove the spacers, everything fits ok, but it doesn’t look quite how it’s supposed to with the calliper and calliper mounting “studs”. As for performance, I don’t feel I have the beautiful initial bite I had with the bigger discs, it’s all probably in my mind, but I’m going to replace the discs with the correct items... when I eventually get round to it...
