I use the two finger prong type on my 1198S. I have modified the fingers by taping some hose pipe round them to give extra height so the front axle can be removed.
I lift my 999 with an under headstock stand. The bottom yoke has no hole for the spigot so I remove the spigot and put the locking pin back. Get the top arm in place under the bottom yoke and put a thin ratchet strap through the holes in the top yoke and loop it under the top arm of the stand. That holds it parallel to the bottom yoke and secure as I put the stand up.
