Fuel Economy - How Much Do You Squeeze Out Of Your Hm?

  1. I bought mine from sandbar in the UK about 18 months ago and would highly recommend them.

  2. 240km! that's 150 miles before reserve! bloody hell!! are you riding at 20km/h?

  3. Yeah that is not bad on an SFS.
I have no idea what it is doing it. I must say that I drive pretty sporty. However, not like a madman.
I remember with my R1 I clocked 180km before reserve.

  4. Ok so I checked and I did 68 miles before the light came out, filled in with 11.3lt (roughly 3 gallons)...
this means a fuel economy of 22mpg..... why does the dashboard keep telling me I do 33/34mpg? how long is the period considered for the average for the dashboard?

  5. You must be riding it a lot harder than I am - I get about double that! Heh. In an hours journey I see the mpg change by 10 or so, assume it measures it against distance travelled?

  6. Have you got a leak somewhere?
Does the bike smell rich when running (sat on tick over after a blast)
I would get that looked at, that sounds really poor even by Ducati standards

  7. My light comes on generally around 110! I usually fill up at around 120-130

  8. I don't really think I have a leak. but my average trip is quite short (30 mins) and all town riding so a lot of stop and go - including reserve I think i'd get to 90/100 miles

  9. I was teasing with the leak scenario but I'd suggest that its probably all the stop starting that is giving you poor economy. If you get the chance take it for a blast at the weekend but not through traffic. My 899 was ridden to swafham about 144 miles part motorway part A roads at a steady 75ish mph it did the trip there on one full tank fuel light came on as I hit the town. On the way home it was ridden harder and I had to refuel at 90 miles as light had come on

  10. You were lucky they had fuel in swaffham! Did you have to barter against a few potatoes

  11. A few potatoes?? hell it was a whole sack and some turnips

  12. I have the Hyper 1100 with an extended range tank - fuel light comes on after 200 miles and I'm getting 41.55mpg.

  13. How much did it cost to get the bigger tank and did you fit it yourself? i've looked online at the fitting of it, and it's not as straight forward as you would think seems to be a 3 to 4 hour job..also i've got the k&n induction kit fitted and i'm thinking the filters will get in the way of the tank

  14. From memory it was around £650. Check with sandbar composites in uk for latest price. Fitting took me the best part of a day but I took my time - it's pretty straightforward just a few fiddly bits to get pipes and wires to sit where you want them too. Not sure about k&n but I've heard it won't fit with velocity stacks.

  15. cheers Brassflute, looks like the bigger tank won't fit on mine then..bummer! 80 miles before fuel light comes on is a joke..not a very funny one!

  16. HM 796 - 198km(123 miles) and the light comes on. Mix of City and Highway at 65+ mph.

  17. Mine usually comes on around 110 miles, the least was 90 miles when it got thrashed all the way to wales down the A494. usually takes about 12.5 ltrs, most I got in when i ran out once was 15.2 ltrs.

  18. Update on my 848 Evo. Was getting 90 miles from full to reserve light coming on. Had custom map put on ECU I now get 120 miles from full to reserve light coming on and that's being ridden a wee bit aggressively :)

  19. General blasting about 110 ish
    Long rides nearer 125

  20. It's a trade off between a couple more easy win ponies and longer fuel range - for me the range won and I grabbed a few ponies back from the remap last week...
