Just to add here, be careful with filters as not all are equal. Even the brand in some cases means nothing. MAHLE products are first class and are the same products they make for OE. Even some of the big brand names are outsourced lower quality product and just produced with the "brand" on it. I've worked in that industry and personally would only use MAHLE, Mann or hengst filters.
I can organise this if enough people are interested as I'm (well work is) a main MAHLE distributor. But being honest, pop to your local motor factor give them the numbers and beat them for a better price. I will be just as cheap by the time I factor any post costs in.
It was half in jest Paul, being retired trade I know it’s almost impossible to bypass the system and achieve a really worthwhile reduction. I just waved the white flag and bought a couple at around £12 each.
No one is getting rich on the fuel filters.... You can guess where I worked if I said I knew the production costs on KL145 Problem is it just isn't a high volume part compared to car applications. £12 isn't a bad price, the fuel tank O ring price is more of an issue for me
Not getting rich, but offsetting price to achieve some form of balance. i.e.- extortionate compared to a larger car filter of similar quality and filtration. Volume always plays a part, I remember how, for a UK only vehicle a front R/H wing was (say) £15 but a L/H wing was 3 times the price purely because accident damage was far more likely* offside to offside so production demand followed suit.
Keep the old O ring and save it for your next filter change, you will find it has shrunk back to its original size and can be reused. I've been doing this for years now with no problems, haven't bought a new one for about 10 years now.
