I am told that earlier 749/999 pumps were different to the ones fitted to later ones like ours 2242,in that they had two metal extension pipes coming out of the base plate that the rubber pipes simply push over,in the old fashioned manner, would one of these be compatible with the later 999's ? .
Your right about that this would be considerably easier to adapt . Just need to get the base plate now . I have considered making the whole base plate which I may still do .
