didn't fifth gear do dyno runs with number of the premium super unleaded fuels in the same car and V power added a few hp to the car they were using and it came out the best? However I am also part of an M3 forum where people are having their cars idle poorly on the newer "Nitro" v-power and running better on BP ultimate, just my two penneth but the change from original V-power to "nitro" may be an issue
Wonder how easy it is to claim against the EEC for burnt out valves?? ... I worked in Brazil a while back & drove a few cars during that time.. Ethanol only in an Audi A4... What a bag of shite.. No power or acceleration, all the locals I spoke to avoid it but even their 'normal' fuel is diluted to hell....
I can't comment on bikes yet, but I run a 2012 BMW 120i Coupe as my main car. I was quite disappointed with the 50-70 acceleration, to the point I was considering selling it. However, that was when I was running it on Tesco Unleaded. I was driving the car one time, and suddenly noticed that there performance was much better, to the point of being 'acceptable', and certainly an improvement. I wondered why, and then realised I'd filled with V-Power to collect one of those Lego Ferrari models in the recent promotion. Quite a revelation for me, and I wouldn't go back now. I've just had my 1098 a couple of weeks, so I'm putting Tesco fuel in as a form of 'reduced power mode', and will certainly try V-Power once I think I can handle it ;-)
Jesus.... The Scooby likes the shell then?! Thats a good link mate... Cant say I noticed a difference in the Shell - Nitro introduction
Morrisons is fucking terrible. Apart from that I use any diesel in the alfa. Only premium unleaded in the bike - usually shell cause it's the local.
Don't notice much difference in fuels at the moment (the ss isn't particularly sophisticated), but when I ride in France (once or twice a year) the fuel smells different (sickly sweet) and my bike runs like a pig until I get home, then it clears up. I assumed it was the higher levels of ethanol in French fuels. I know they are adding it to UK fuels now, but when they reach continental levels it will play hell with older bikes.
Really? I can't say I notice much difference in the 999 wherever in Western Europe I happen to be filling it up. I put standard branded unleaded in it but will put in anything if the tank's empty and I'm out and about - which it often is. Esso, Shell, BP, Total, Texaco, Agip - anything like that is fine for me. But if no-name stuff has to go in, well, it's only a tankful; what harm's that going to do in the scheme of things?
This thread is hilarious. All the misconceptions, prejudices, fantasies and half-baked notions are being trotted out and displayed for our amusement. Carry on, chaps.
I always get my family V-Power petrol-soaked fake moustaches for Christmas. It's a proper joy to watch their faces light up
Or.... it could be a case that a few had noticed an improvement with various fuels.. As in the human body, fill it with shite & you dont perform that well eh? Or in your opinion are all fuels exactly the same...
Yup. Same for me. Last year had a ktm660 which was a bitch to start ( kick start only ). At that point I ran it on cheap Tesco fuel as it was at the bottom of the street....KTM forum member suggested v power which transformed it....engine ran smoother and easier to start. So like you I always keep a few plastic can in the garage and fill up at home.
I've always been a sceptic up till now so haven't tried the V power - guess next tank will have to give it a go and see if I notice any difference.
I used to occasionally run Shell v power in my Nissan 350Z when i had it, you could definately notice the differance. Throttle response was quicker, and engine ran smoother..... Made the car feel much more responsive / quicker. I use it in my RC8 when im on a 'day out' for the same reasons, but its wasted on my daily commute. I think its a higher octane rating so it must do something?
