Id just like to say for the last 12 years of owning my rsv4 factory with full akra, its never failed an mot (with the full system on there) its only ever had an advisory for the noise but, more often than not, the tester has said.... "ive put an advisory on there for the noise because i have to, but by fuck that sounds awesome." As for the visor...photochromaic for me....less chance of getting knicked by the filth... Plates: for me always small and either tucked up or set in between the 2 pipes of the hyper... To the OP - fucking do it pal....all my bikes have full systems on them....i just rubber wheeled the writing off....then got them coated black.
It’s not the police that are the worry, it’s if you need to make an insurance claim and it hasn’t been declared. If it’s declared then there is no worry. A mate is having issues with a claim right now because he hasn’t declared an aftermarket pipe and, get this, a satnav holder. If they void your insurance when making a claim, you will struggle to get insurance again for a long time.
Not here, your money is good no matter what, they just make to a point where its not affordable, so alot of folk move back with their parents just to keep their bikes on the road..lol
That’s why you always declare everything, and go with an insurance company that lists every single option on the bike. I don’t recall who it was, but there was a guy on here a while back that was saying about how insurance is invalid with a full system, but then went and got his bike decatted and remapped, but didn’t think it necessary to tell his insurance company, and that they wouldn’t be able to tell.
Insurance isn’t invalid if your insurers know it’s fitted. If they don’t know it gives them an easy get out in the event of a claim. If there are life changing circumstances or a fatality involved, the assessor will go through absolutely everything to make sure the vehicle is as stated on the inside documents. Having insurance voided by your insurers is extremely serious and will almost certainly mean most insurers won’t cover you again and any that do, the quote will be through the roof.
Can’t say I’ve noticed this before, but just checked my system and it doesn’t seem to say ‘Not for road use’ anywhere on it.
In the event of a claim the insurance claims adjuster will do their homework on this. Racing exhaust. | Exhaust systems | accessory Ducati Clearly states on the symbol track use only. My questions stands, has anyone actually declared a full system like this to their insurer?
Yes I did , it went with the old bike as I was unaware when I originally (dealer fitted) has it on that it was not covered buy my insurance . Could not inure it and decided to leave it on the old bike and went back to standard. Not worth the risk of a voided claim .
I understand that UK Ducati dealers selling the full system will ask you to sign a disclaimer, stating that you will not use the system on the road, probably a bit like when you buy a "show plate"
I was trying to remember if I signed one of those and my mind is blank. Interesting concept, you sign to say you won’t use it on the road and then ride away, on the road!
Lots will declare a full system but stop short on informing them it’s non Road legal , closed circuit system , it’s in the honesty of how you give the information. I mentioned the race pipe and they said , is it Road legal and does it have a stamp . The race does not , the road system does .
I think it's a relatively new policy, so probably depends when it was fitted, it was mentioned to me last month at my 18k service.
The cost is irrelevant, but yes my insurance company is aware that the bike is fitted with the race system, which is itemised on the policy. Now can we get the thread back on topic of how awesome the system is, rather than flapping like a bunch of old women at a WI meeting.
