Another angle… I thought the belly pan assembly accompanying the system was quite cheap and fragile feeling. Probably because it is. But I must say after a visit to the paint shop for a laquered finish, it looked great!
@Pete Lay You mentioned that the D200 is on the Ducati website - do you have a link for this as I cannot seem to find it.
I’ve just looked and i can’t find it myself, the only thing i can think is, i probably got saw the Akra wheelbarrow pipes and got them confused. Sorry about that, i will blame it on being old.
For Peter and Spooky. Complete D200 full titanium system on Ebay for £4,605.36 as opposed to new Akra wheelbarrow system which is £6156. You might need to find a canny way (there are still some) to get it at that price without being mullered for import duty though. Spooky, I think your V4 EVO tail tidy might work but you might need to ask Andyb to elaborate on the D200 rear silencer centre bracket and if that uses the same pick up points on the subframe. The other thing to consider is the exhaust outlets will be very close to your numberplate and indicators regardless. Evotech make tail tidys for other models that actually include heat deflectors to prevent such damage, so perhaps they will bring out a revised one (I've already sent them an email to that effect). Another option would be to use the futurisimoto tail tidy and fashion a custom bracket for the plate, that way the indicators are behind the exhaust efflux. As you say Rizoma make the Fox which I believe piggy backs over the D200 silencer rear bracket (judging by the pics on their website), but I don't like all the exposed wiring to the number plate light and indicators.
Thanks, I’ve just bought a full titanium D200 system, haven’t fitted it yet as bike is not back from sprayers yet. I already have a tail tidy fitted but won’t know if i can get away with it until i fit the exhaust, fingers crossed it fits or its another expense heading my way.
Done a bit of digging. The only thing that allows fitment of the Rizoma Fox with the D200 is the addition of this little bracket onto the "foot of the tail tidy" as shown by the red arrow. Here is the Fox installed with the D200 system fitted. Bear in mind the D200 carbon tip silencer version (as per Andyb's) has slightly more flared shaped silencers that are wider at the tips than the SBK replica black titanium ones shown here. The latter are also 10db louder according to Termignoni at 115db which is probably way over most track day limits, the former are 105db. Personally I think Evotech could easily mod their stock V4 tail tidy with a similar bracket for a much neater solution, if they do I am seriously tempted to sell my underbelly Akra system and fit the D200, as I think it looks way better than the much hailed (mostly by Ducati) latest Akra wheelbarrow offering, produces more power and its over £2K cheaper! After much deliberation I have now ruled out the 4 Uscite option, as whilst I love the look of the under seat rear silencer (which pretty much obliterates the rear light and most of which are wonky judging by the many many videos I've watched online) and the side exit lower belly pan silencer, there are a few other elements of it that I don't like such as the dog-leg left hand pipe to the rear silencer and the bulbous right hand heat shield amongst a few other minor personal niggles. I do love the sound the 4 Uscite makes though as it's distinctly deeper and boomier than all the others (I'm sure Fairy Cringe can testify to that)
Import duty isn’t a problem. The D200 is very tempting. As you said, I’m not sure how the indicator and light wiring would hold up. The Rizoma tail tidy for Termignoni seems to combine the exhaust hanger as far as I can tell. I think the Evotech tail tidy would work with the Akrapovic wheelbarrow system. Of course, a bottom exit system completely avoids all of that and it’s lighter and cheaper.
Is there a wheelbarrow conversion available,I have a full ti Akra on a v4s?not sure if this is the right thread so forgive me if not gentlemen
AFAIK the section aft of the front headers and horizontal under sump pipe is the only difference between the underbelly and wheelbarrow system. You can order individual parts from Ducati (at a hefty cost no doubt) so you would need the vertical collector, silencers and brackets/hardware. I am sure that would work out cheaper than replacing the whole system. If you already have the Akra map uploaded, then I am not sure you need much else. Arguably that map is optimised for the underbelly system you have and the one supplied with the wheelbarrow system won't work as your VIN is pre 2022 (I assume) and you would have to remove the existing map anyway, even if a dealer could upload the new map to your bike. You might need to take the bike toi a dyno centre who could possibly make some tweaks or try BrenTuning for an overlay.
I’m still waiting on getting bike back from the sprayers, they are in the process of reassembling it, as soon as I get it back I will be fitting the D200 @spooky will keep you informed
