Future helmet

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Digginjim, Mar 10, 2014.

  1. Only if i have to. I like to plan my route ( if out for a day ) beforehand and then just see where the roads take me.

I only turn a satnav on if i am lost or want to see how long it will take me to get where i am going.

  2. Well I use sat nav, if I have to, to get to meet point and then from wherever I end up at home. If you plan your route and do not use sat nav great I just move with the times in that respect and prefer satnav hands down.
Also music is essential to relax and do not tell me termi noise is enough as it does get boring and if you have ear-plugs in then you clearly prove termi noise is nuisance hehe

  3. I don't want music. I want time to think.

  4. We are all different. But just the pure freedom of riding the bike is sufficient for me.

I like to hear what the motor is doing and how its responding to my inputs. I'v never felt any need for music whilst riding.

  5. i agree with a lot of the sentiments expressed above i would choose a helmet that did the basics well over a gadget laden one, but do think 180 deg rear view is a very good idea and would be no more distracting than using partly obscured mirrors. I currently wear an Arai only because it fitted my head better than other similar priced helmets but as for noise its probably no better than a £30 helmet from Argos.
Another thing is you have to buy before you try, I've made mistakes in the past where helmets have fell for short of the sales talk.

  6. The £30 would be quieter. That's why I've given up on arai.

  7. A quieter helmet will be warmer inside. You want quiet, that means less air moving through the helmet.

The Schuberth i used to have was very quiet but too warm on a hot day.

  8. I have a Schuberth at the moment (S2) and you're absolutely right about the noise but I've never owned a worse helmet for misting up in over 30 years of riding! It has a pinlock but on cold, damp mornings I swear I'm like feckin Kenny out of Southpark for the amount of vision it gives. The dealer swapped the pinlocks free of charge but to no avail.

Now on the look out for a helmet as quiet but without the misting - might be looking for while..........

    All the best,

  9. LOL. It's the optical system device that enables you to not have to re-focus the eyes to view a head-up display image.

  10. HJC mate. Excellent antifog visors, nice and quiet (not as good as the Schuberths though), and cheap as chips. I can't fault them for the price.

  11. Its because there is less airflow through a Schuberth. You cant have a well ventilated helmet that is very quiet. Goes against the law of physics though some are better than others.

  12. Seal the pin lock with silicon oil/grease. Helps a lot n

  13. Thanks for the tip Count - I'll give it a go. :upyeah: The helmet's great otherwise.
