Adjust, or fit R1 throttle tube. It's bigger, so will take up some of the slack. You may still need to fine adjust after fitting.
1 contact a yamaha dealer. 2 ask to order a circa 2006/9 Yamaha R1 or R6 throttle grip (non fly by wire one) 3 Pay 4 wait for post man. 5 undo the two screws that hold your throttle grip housing together 6 remove the cable nipples from the old grip, remove grip 7 fit new grip tube and throttle cable nipples to grip tube 8 refit the grip housing together with two screws 9 as an option extra fit your ducati grip rubber to replace the yamaha one
Yeah, I had seen it mentioned previously, but had a Ducati q.a. throttle on my 1098, so never had the need to look at it. I never realised it was that easy though.
The only (minor) issue I had with the R1 throttle tube was it exposed 15 - 20 mm of handlebar between the grip & bar end. I cut the bars back on both sides, tapped the inner of the handlebar with a M18 tap & fitted Panigale bar ends to replace the plastic bar ends the 1198 comes with.
