  1. Ah, righty-tighty, lefty loosy ... right?

  2. Anyone around West London today with a 12 point 55mm 3/4 drive socket and +1000mm long breaker bar fancy helping a fellow biker out?

  3. is bike rideable? as my mate is coming over soon to do my van gearbox and has a van load of tools (truck mechanic) he may have bits you need if you can bring over to greenford

  4. Thank you for the kind offer, but the puncture isn't repairable.

  8. Is it 1/2 drive?
I've a 1000mm 3/4 bar now, but no suitable socket.
I don't want to use a 1/2 drive socket as there is every likelihood I'll break it.

  9. Are you still struggling with this? I have a 55 mm 12 point socket with 3/4 inch drive, and I have a 3/4 inch bar/handle to go with it. If you are really desperate, I could drop it down to Hatton Cross for you. Let me know. Pete

I was about the get a 0.8mm blade on Mr. Grinder.
Steady my hand and have a go at the nut.

  11. @Pete1950
    Is a star....riding across London as I type with a 55mm 3/4" drive socket....
I hope he's got his blue lights flashing and his "BLOOD" hi-vis on.

This is what the forum is all about.
I think I'm going to have to buy this man a pint or a coffee (or three).

  12. If I'd had this wheel off, it would have been assembled with anti-seize compound!

  17. Regarding the socket size is it best to go with a 3/4 inch , or is it just the odd one which is a pig to get off?

  18. If the nut does up & comes undone with the prescribed torque setting, you can get away with 1/2 inch. Just. But if a nut gets seized somehow, which they occasionally do, it has got to be 3/4 inch drive. The half inch square can just snap off. So you really need a 3/4 drive socket, so you can be sure to be OK whatever happens.

  19. Thanks Pete for that .

  20. Just catching up with this post, reading the manual for refitting it states use grease b which is shell retinax hdx2 a lithium/calcium based grease with molybdenum disulphide, smear on thread and base of nut with 230Nm torque. Also states use retinax on front wheel axle thread. Apologies if this is covered in previous posts.
