Very few car rental companies will allow there cars to be taken down as far as Naples, my son had three refuse him, he wanted to hire in the north and drive down to Naples, he did manage to find one eventually. Steve
We hired from Rome and didn’t tell anyone where we were going....only damage was when the car was left for a few days in a secure car park in Sorrento....
Riding round Amalfi and Napoli is awesome! As a London commuter, I managed to scare the locals. I gave a lift to an Italian friend (former racer) as we dropped his bike off, and even he was scared at my commuting style; tight filtering and making use of the pavement to get round traffic The advice that the girl from Ducati gave me was that in Napoli there is only two colours of traffic light: green and dark green!
Agreed 100%. I've driven in that region and the local scooter boys are fekkin nuts! But I've also driven in Saudi Arabian and Nigerian cities which is next level nuts...
Hi! Thanks for the help. It’s a lovely place, and the roads are amazing, even with heavy summer traffic. Following forum suggestions I rent a 4stroke 125 scooter that was perfect to me and wife. No feeling of lacking power, as long as overtaking possibilities are virtually none. Our choice was picking Sorrento as our home. Just one night in the expensive Positano. We drove everyday across the costiera amalfitana and backwards to the lovely village without any bag at all. It has about 60km, and more 20km upwards if you want to know Ravello, at the mountains. Don’t know if I would go up there again. Posting some pictures now. Thanks for the help. If someone want some hints just call.
Get the train in Sorrento and have a trip to Pompey the train is only 3 or 4 euro return and drops off at the entrance to Pompey. Steve
