The Trail Riders fellowship is a good organisation to join, they make a point of keeping members upto date with legislation etc and also make a point of riding as many green lanes as possible, a green lane ( i believe) only needs to be ridden once a year to allow it to keep its category of a B road.,
As long as the usage is documented and can be proved... Doesn't stop local councils trying to close them anyway, unfortunately...

in reply to some of te earliest messages some people might be confused as to whata green lane is, a green lane is classed as a road and you have to have an insured and taxed vehicle to drive along it. it will normally say unsuitable for motor vehicles at the start. the problem is that people drive down these lanes in untaxed vehicles and damage them and the councils want to close them, im we all take care to do as little damage as possible there isnt a problem, me and my dad often go green laning in his 4x4 its great fun.
yes commonly known as "BOATS" byways open to all traffic" and " unmetalled roads" basically look like farm tracks etc , but you need to be road legal to use vehicles on them, yep great fun, you can find these routes on your councils definitive maps , but getting on a local groups rideout if the best option
few more shots, 1. a byway on the edge of a farmers field, 2. a byway across Dartmoor nr widecoobe on the moor, 3. Dartmoor/grenofen woods
Total convert to green lane riding on my WR 250 even though I'm still crap at it and crashed again.....got soaked last weekend.
good video, been doing it 7 years and rare I don't have some kind of mishap lol, shocked how bad the lanes have been washed out the last month or so, good fun though, kev
Have a look at the WR250R fuel injected 250, long service intervals, valve check at 26k. It's a great bike !
