I think to be fair to them they offer different variants, the more expensive ones being the better material. I bought their cheapest version which was pretty crappy. That aside, they don't fit the Panigale dash anyway.
Thanks! Once I've confirmed the first batch are on their way I'll be able to start taking pre-orders.
Great product. I honestly think £5 is too cheap. A decent phone screen protector will retail at £18. Are you making packaging too for the product?
The more expensive phone screen protectors use tempered glass rather than PET which is the reason for that price difference. It's all about price elasticity of demand (pretty much the only thing I remember from my business studies A level!) I obviously want them to sell well, I just thought I would struggle to charge any more than a fiver for them when people are used to paying 99p for a pack of 10 from eBay or whatever! No, packaging at this point is very basic which helps to keep costs down.
OK, makes sense. Are yours the only Panigale screen protectors? Can you also get tempered glass cut using your existing tooling?
As far as I know nobody else is making Panigale protectors. I considered tempered glass but you lose the anti-glare feature and they're also quite rigid meaning they need a totally flat surface to be applied correctly. That coupled with the fact that minimum orders of 1000 and their high cost per unit pretty much rules them out for now.
I pay no more than a £1 for tempered glass for the iPhone. I've had this one on the phone since the iPhone 6 came out and it's fine.
Just to let everyone know that my screen protectors have arrived in the UK and will be with me on Thursday. I've emailed forum admin about becoming a trader, but for those who would like to stick an early order in you can head over to my site Speedo Angels | Home - Motorcycle Dashboard Screen Protection and use the discount code (or coupon code as my website calls it!) FORUM20 to get 20% off your order. So you'll get 2 screen protectors, the squeegee, dust removal sheets etc etc for £4 delivered.
Also ordered the matte finish version, hoping the reflexions from the steering damper in sunny weather will be less.
Top man, I did and thought it was completely my fault and as someone else said £4 to protect a £600 dash, VFM Thanks again
My next project is for the Multistrada, not the latest model, the one with this dashboard... I have a dash on its way, so it'll be a case of getting the CAD drawings done etc. So hopefully within 4-6 weeks I'll be offering these also. Basically I want to offer screen protectors for all bikes with LCD screens. I'm looking at the new R1, Fireblades, but also want to look at the BMW GS adventure as they have a nice big dash. All the money I make from selling this first batch will go straight back into buying dashboards to be able to create the CAD drawings for other models. Essentially, I'll supply whatever there is demand for!
