Guy Martin Tonight

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by ian899, May 8, 2014.

  1. Like me he is a 'Yellow Belly'. As for the accent, he doesn't have it when you talk to him and it certainly isn't 'fenland Lincolnshire' or 'Humberside'.

  2. He does ok for cash, not sure he's much of a lorry fitter these days, seems very media savvy to me, or if not someone around him is. Not won much of importance (i.e. TT and bike NW200 titles) yet has a profile far in excess of the likes of Hutchinson who has won it all. TT movie made about him, more than one TV prog, often interviewed etc.

  3. Not denying he's a good rider. He is, period...I was only questioning the persona....everyone is entitled to have their off day...its just that every time I've seen him personally....its been an off day. In stark contrast McPint is an absolutely top bloke, genuinely nice to speak to, got time for everyone he speaks to. Last time I saw him he stayed out beyond the confines of the paddock in general population and only went back in when everyone had had a chat with him. Nice guy.

  4. I did see him ( guy ) last year. He slipped back in the paddock from the bottom corner where the privateers are, I caught his eye as he was walking past but he clearly looked like he didn't want to talk so I didnt bother, which was fine...

  5. I think in the TT he's been genuinely unlucky especially the year he got booked for speeding in the pit lane, I thought that was pretty off to be honest. I sincerely hope he does win one....it would be nice to see his face...

  6. He was awesome at last years Southern 100.
His van was just behind my trailer as we waited to board the ferry. I went over and you could see his face fall as if to say 'Not another one' I just said 'OK I just want to thank you for a great 3 days'... His face lit up.

  7. Then he's just gone up a little bit in my estimation of him!

  8. I reckon I could make a better cup of tea than him. Plus Ive heard his toast is rubbish. Calls himself northern? Pah!

  9. Funny you should say that but I watched him years ago a bout saying you put the milk in first.....wrong on so many levels....

  10. Precisely. Milk in fist, I ask yer. Calls himself a man? I'd expect this thing from a Yorkshireman but it's franky unlincolnshire behaviour. My wife says he was never the same after he read that book.

  11. Yeah...started harping on about it being " an emulsion "

    Start with the basics mate....

  12. Having said all that missed the one show as I was on the treadmill watching wheeler dealers do up a delorean.....any good?

  13. All I know is that he must have something about him, Mrs CF thinks he's lovely!

  14. missed that one...bollox...be on later anyway

  15. No one doubts his charm Mr CF. But one cannot forgive the scant disregard to procedure in the tea department.

  16. Cameron Donald for my wife although I was instructed to tell him to loose the beard otherwise its over between them....I managed to shout it through the window of the van he was driving....he just laughed....tsk...the cheek of it...

  17. well it was about time your wife got rid of the beard too, you can't blame her
