  1. Yes, agree that it was made for a wider audience to make it saleable and generate viewing figures and thus income for C4 - that's the nature of commercial TV.
    I fully understand the reason for this and realise that it wasn't aimed at being a training video on exactly how to build a Spitfire from original engineering drawings.
     
  2. Having watched it back a couple of times now... The film of the first flight does show that the underside of the left wing is in fact black, with the remainder of the underside in duck-egg blue. At first it looked as if it was just in shadow, but it definitely is black - I have to admit I have no idea why as I don't recall seeing one like that before...
     
  3. Thanks for that, I haven't had another look.
    I think that the paint scheme was a very early war scheme used between 39-40, with complete duck egg blue thereafter; however I still seem to remember something similar pertaining to Scottish squadrons, but I'm buggered if I could find it.
