Recently read his autobiography....left me a little undecided. He is a bit marmite....but am on the fence as I cant work out if its genuine, from show or over played..he does go on and on about fixing trucks and being working class...I wouldn't consider him working clas these days, no mortgage and an Aston Martin....he may have started off working class and I admire that but he could just get on with it all with a lot less fuss....example John McGuiness...and he has bloody won TTs!!! I don't think he is medically diagnosed Asperges, ther is mention of it in his book but pretty sure he hasn't been 'officially diagnosed" Asperges.
Oh and just to add....I am reading Nick Sanders bio part 1 and his first 3 chapters are more interesting than the whole of GM bio!!
His widow presented Guy with a signed copy of Fred's autobiography. Incidentally at 7:30 today there is a repeat of 'Guy's Spitfire' on Channel 4
