Halfords Or Castrol Oil?

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Ian, Apr 15, 2014.

  1. In my Monster I use a cheaper but good quality oil and change it twice as often.
In my 748 I use Shell Ultra.

  2. I'm sure it's a decent oil, but on a zzr worth £1000?

  3. tricky one, something like a dry clutch 2v monster actually gives the oil a very easy time (low stressed, comparatively low revving and good cooling, with no clutch dust to contaminate the oil), something like a panigale quite the opposite. I'd be surprised if there is anything in the recommended spec thats really an issue, For the budget conscious Comma oils are excellent. My preference in bikes is either Elf or Castrol, though I'll use the recommended Shell when I do the oil change on the Ducati soon.

  4. Most dealers use motul now, not shell.

  5. I used to work at the company that made the bottles for Halfords oil, they went to Castrol to be filled.

  6. It pays to be a sceptic!
