Hamilton Spoiler!

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Arquebus, Nov 6, 2020.

  1. Maybe another ten odd races down the racing road and i'll tune in.....or out.

  2. Given the rule changes, this was to be expected, even welcomed.

  5. Yes but not Maclaren. Really wanted them to push on :(

  6. I'd like Hamilton to get another championship, and then clear off. Same as I'd like Rossi to have got one last championship. Of the rest I'd like Ducati and Ferrari to win, just because they seem to have the passion that's lacking in the rest. Plus I can't stand Horner and Verstappen's attitudes.

  7. Max certainly is challenging to like. Moaning like a little kid who has had his sweets taken away every time something doesn’t go right for him in the race. “He got too close to me, it’s not fair, it’s just not fair“ was just absolutely pathetic from a grown man

  8. I guess we all did, especially with Nando showing such promise. But when the design rules change, everything changes.

I think its good to see the Ferraris have not totally lost the plot afterall. Watching them & Red Bull tustle the past two outings has been great. Lets face it Merc & Lewis have had it all their own way for years.

Mind you, if Toto doesn't get the car back on course quickly, I'd bet Lewis either retires or signs with another team for '23.

  9. If he wins the championship this season, perhaps he's gonna be the first driver ever with his mun on the podium spraying champagne.

  10. Anything might happen, but on current form thats pretty unlikely. Mrs Larbalestier might be drowning her sorrows though?

    Current odds:
    WDC
    Max 5/6
    Charles 7/4
    Lewis 9/1

    Constructors
    Ferrari 4/5
    Red Bull 11/8
    Mercedes 8/1

  11. As you say it's a very long season and anytning can happen if you don't keep your head.

  12. I have no doubt Merc will sort their car out sooner or later - but it is a lot of fun watching them have a meltdown in the meantime - and seeing all the Hamilton fans having a sulk... :)
Also disappointed with Maclaren - I thought they would be on it this year...

  13. Lewis has been doing that every race for the last 15 years......

  15. In the Rosberg era there was no shortage of toys thrown from Hamilton pram. Now it someone else - perhaps they all do it these days?

    Raikkonen didn't...

  16. Yeah can’t really argue that. LH certainly hasn’t been shy to blame others in the past, Vettel too, but Max just sounds like a little brat when he’s challenged.

  17. & BTW Jez, while I get your main point. Raikkonnen is never in the same league as LH or probably even as Max will be. What I can’t stand, more than the usual blame culture that many drivers carry (although to be fair LH & Vettel have noticeably moved away from this recently) is the entitled whining you see from Max every time something doesn’t go his way, or he just thinks it doesn’t. Its not fair, help me, do something! It’s pathetic & makes him very hard to like.

  18. Lets be reasonable. Lewis has whined less in the past two seasons. Prior to then he whined almost continually.

    Here's an excellent vintage example.
"I've been to the stewards 6 times in 6 races..."

None of the stewards were correct obviously. Incredible that he finished that whine with "maybe its because I'm black" though it could have been a joke?

As for Räikkönen, if you look a his win rate & DNF due to car failiure whilst at McLaren, against Schumacher, you may want to revise your view? Kimi certainly did not ever have the benefit of a team slavishly devoting every resource to him, and he never drove for a team that was head and shoulders above the competition. That said he still scored 46 fastest laps behind Lewis on 59 & Michael on 77 who as we all know enjoyed both... At his peak, Kimi was one of the fastest F1 drivers ever.
