I have several issues with the way the N-word is allowed to be used nowadays. Either it’s offensive or it isn’t and yet it’s still freely used in certain quarters by certain people. Having said that, for Nelson Piquet to say what he said, twice in fact and the way he said it, is absolutely extraordinary. What an earth was he thinking that’s just outright offensive and surely the whole world knows that by now?

Seems your a bit conflicted here, you’d like to use the N word in everyday life as long as you suppose it shouldn’t be offence when you use it. But find it offence when Piquent makes use of the word when referring to LH. I’m not sure the context in which you’d find it acceptable to use this slur though.
Whoa! How have you ever taken from what I wrote that I find it acceptable or would ever use it? Let’s just clear that up, I don’t & I wouldn’t, but the hypocrisy around those that are most offended by what is undoubtedly a racial slur & those that use it freely in “art” & in conversation between themselves when it suits them cannot be simply put down to “if you’re not black don’t use it” Historically, it’s usage in films & art stands up when used to illustrate a different time or to highlight characters but other than that it should never be used imo & certainly not in casual conversation by a white guy who can only ever have meant it as a derogatory term. Hope that’s crystal now.
Think you might have 'gone in a bit' on the guy there DucatiSpud, I and I'm sure many others didn't for a second think Simon 'wants' to use it, I think the point was all about the fact he feels it's wrong that it's used by some, and I assume he means that an offensive term is exactly that, and should not be used by anyone in any circumstance.
Thanks for clearing up my misinterpretation of your post. Having never heard 2 Black people use the N word to each other in real life from my experience it’s only ever been in media/entertainment. I disagree that I went in hard, however you’re entitled to your opinion.
Can anyone explain to me why some offensive words are considered beyond the pail, while others which are considered by some to be offensive are ok to use, like calling someone a twat or for being ginger or using swear words even on this forum. I do find this offensive language thing puzzling on times.
I thinks it’s because twats weren’t enslaved for centuries but black people and specifically that n word were Shame it wasn’t the other way round really
