  1. Don’t think so, I think Merc messed up

  2. Might explain why Toto had a face like a slapped arse when GR crossed the line…

  3. From the link above - “After all, ten kilos make up three-tenths – and at Spa it might even be four."

An F1 car can carry 110kg of fuel we could do some rough maths and say it will lap 3 to 4 seconds faster at the end of the race than at the start.

And I dunno, but that seems a big difference to me

  4. “I don’t know whether the spectators notice that the drivers always drive on the dirty track at the end so that they can put as much weight on the tyres as possible. Maybe they didn’t have that in their calculations either."

That's my new thing learnt for the day, i'm off to the pub!

  5. But the drivers can't collect the crap in Spa, because there is no cool down lap. They pass the finish line and stop.

  6. Will Lando snatch the WDC?

Lando Norris has reduced Max Verstappen's lead in the drivers' championship to 52 points.

    Six more races.

    1 Max Verstappen/ NED/ Red Bull Racing/ 331
    2 Lando Norris/ GBR/ McLaren/ 279

  7. I wouldn’t bet against Max. The Redbull is now behind the Mercedes, Ferrari and Mclarens for sheer pace. So Max is effectively driving the 7th or 8th quickest car. Yet he still gets on the podium week in week out. He’s some boy.

Six more races. Plenty of drama yet… Certainly makes it interesting.

  8. I don’t think so, maybe if Maclaren hadn’t of ballsed up in Bacu and he’d won that one then possibly. As Fairy says, Red Bull have gone backwards but Max is always in the points. It also doesn’t help that RB can help Red Bull out like where Danny Ric stole the fastest lap!
Hope Maclaren hold on to the Constructors tho

  9. That does not work anymore for a few years as the stewards can choose any of the tyre sets used by that driver as a representative set (so if they crept in with 0.2 kg over with a set that had a lot of rubber marble pickup, they could force the team to put on a different set used in the race and reweigh.
Most interesting to me be will be if someone else (most likely Piastri, Sainz or Hamilton for different reasons) starts to drive very aggressively towards Verstappen. He was quite prepared driving to “crash or win” to others in the past when it was someone else’s championship lead on the line (Hamilton, Leclerc) but let’s see how he likes his championship affected by it.

  10. Hamilton should be shafted at any opportunity tbf… :D Max is cool. He swears a lot and trades paint.

  11. The Stewards can ask for different tyres re weighing, but they don't. Collecting "marbles" is a time honored way to resolve marginal weight issues, and happens frequently with many cars, at most races.

I haven't noticed that Max has changed his driving style.

  12. Just weight car without tyres, no?

    Seems bastard simple to me.

  13. I allows a “gentlemen’s measure”. I.e. So long as they weigh up at min weight plus a few, even if the tyres look like liquorice Catherine wheels, they get nodded through. If there has been suspicion of a real technical infringement, intentional or not, most likely by insinuation or direct challenge from other teams, or any grounds to suspect sleight of hand (like in this case by presenting the car with the test sample of fuel on board, but certifying it as “dry” when the rules are crystal clear on that) the scrutineer can demand check-weighs with other sets of wheels/tyres whilst still in parc-ferme conditions.

  14. Mexico Grand Prix

    1. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)
    2. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
    3. Lando Norris (McLaren)
    4. Charles Leclerc (Ferrari)
    5. George Russell (Mercedes)
    6. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
    7. Kevin Magnussen (Haas)
    8. Pierre Gasly (Alpine)
    9. Alex Albon (Williams)
    10. Nico Hulkenberg (Haas)
    11. Yuki Tsunoda (RB)
    12. Liam Lawson (RB)
    13. Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin)
    14. Lance Stroll (Aston Martin)
    15. Valtteri Bottas (Sauber)
    16. Franco Colapinto (Williams)
    17. Oscar Piastri (McLaren)
    18. Sergio Perez (Red Bull)
    19. Esteban Ocon (Alpine)
    20. Zhou Guanyu (Sauber)

Should be interesting to see if
Piastri can come through from the back of the field
Perez flunks it and does nothing -maybe they will sack him finally?
If the Ferrari boys do well they are threatening Macca for the constructors with 5 races to run

  15. Perez is far from the worst driver on the grid. Which is a testament to how good Verstappen is. He’ll likely defend his championship title this year. Not so sure about next year though.

  16. Thanks for that, I was just about to watch it unfold on tv, but you’ve saved me the trouble.

  17. Perez usually finishes 6 - 8 places behind Verstappen (or more) and this looks like it will cost the team the constructors championship title and about £20 million +/-.

So the issue is whether the RB is undriveable by anyone else at a level closer to Verstappen, or if its Perez that is unable to do so.

I don't see Norris stopping Verstappen adding another title to his collection based on current form.

  18. Not too sure if you are joking, but the "Spoiler" in the title is pretty clear.
