Yep, absolutely identical for me, except I was deep in the countryside. I got up to punch the twat, then realised my foot was facing the wrong way...and my trousers were missing...
Mine was - he's not seen me , fuck shit Martins going to be pissed off were riding to Italy tomorrow - bang Luckily we still did
Been riding since 21 44 now Have done 5000 odd miles each year minimum Never fallen off on road One 'off' only on track during wet practice session before quali at Valencia - was first time on full wets and I just got a bit carried away and lost the rear lol Definately not a riding god and definately not dog slow - just careful and try not to let ego take over. As regards other drivers etc I assume they are all out to kill me and ride accordingly !! My bikes have increased in power over the years so no big jumps - Went - DT125 crosser XV1100 cruiser 600ss 748s zx6r gsxr600 trackbike 1198s gsxr750 trackbike and an ST3 Its inevitable I will have an off at some point but will hope to avoid it as long as possible !
My mate claimed to have never crashed on the road...until the day we set off for the Nurburgring. Prior to that I couldn't keep up with him, now I have to keep stopping for him. Crashing changes your perspective somewhat.
Definately - especially after a concussion - its like everything starts to work and you 'rediscover' the use of your limbs!
Mine was on a friends bike at the age of about 17. 1 in the morning on a country road near a stable, trying to get up to the power band on his little 125 and got on some gravel. Ended up hitting a wall head on at a bend and was lucky not to be hurt at all. I jumped up, taking off the borrowed lid and ran to the bike to pick it up at which point I heard a horse trotting up the road. 'Shit! The crash scared the horses so much they jumped the fence' though I. 'Now we're in real trouble with the stable'. It was only 20 mins later when we were looking for the helmet that we realised that a helmet rolling down a gravelly Hill sounds just like a horses hooves trotting. Oh how we laughed! Clip clop clip clop! :Banghead:
TBH I was always very scared of falling off on track until my slide in Valencia - and after that it was such a non-drama I felt quite good about it! Was v lucky though and it was v minor (though fast) I think a crash on the road is different I had a head on in my car a couple of years ago at speed and it would have affected my confidence - had I not gone back to the spot and drove it about 50 times about 3 days after
That post should have been in red. Anyone who can ride 5'000 miles a year for 20 years without falling off has my respect and owning a trackbike and only having one wet off ditto. Some people smoke all their lives and never get ill from it, so perhaps you won't ever fall off - you're clearly doing all the right things. Well done.
Glid I couldnt find how to post in red! Might be good at not falling off so far but clearly pap at forums and IT !!
when you hit reply and start to type, there are icons just above - B I U A etc, the 'A' is 'text colour.....
3 of us nearly ended up under a Winnebago or in a field after hitting gravel on a RH bend in France last year. Good job we were not caning it. All 3 lost front and had to pick bike up mid bend and run onto other side of road.
Gravel can be an occupational hazard on some of the French back roads. In some places, potholes are repaired but putting in some pitch and then drowning the thing in gravel. Then you wait for traffic and weather to clean the road over a few weeks and months. At some stage, they take away the Loose Chippings sign, but there could easily still be gravel around. Just one of those things.
In the first accident, the guy got out of his Hilux and starting trying to apologise/make excuses for ramming me, then tried to start removing my crash helmet while I'm still lying on the floor. At which point I managed to lock my hands around his throat and start throttling the life out of him. Thankfully other witnesses managed to separate us before things got any worse.
