Ability to carry is why I bought a roadlok. Wasn't too bad on multi, always had tank bag or top box, but S1000r will likely just be riding kit and (at best) bumbag. Expensive but effective and don't beed to carry anything BYW wonder how that bracket would hold up to a camera fitment for trackways? Could be an interesting view
the roadlok was also an interesting option indeed. but I do wonder, does it affect your steer feel? the weight of the "construction" is bolted on one side of the front. And yes, never thought about it that way, but it would certainly give interesting footage from that angle!
I’ve got the roadlok on my Monster and the Oxford on my beemer. Cannot feel any difference to the steering with the roadlok fitted...great bit of kit. Just couldn’t get the roadlok to ‘fit’ my beemer properly...and as I already had the Oxford lock, fitted that as Riko has. My mindset same as him...wanted an easy / quick to use lock that I was more likely to use if I didn’t have to make a special effort to carry in my bum bag / jacket pocket or rucksack or whatever. The space under my beemer seat is tosh....especially compared to what space I had under my old Multistrada.
Big price difference between Oxford and Roadlock. However, since I worked in the trade years ago have avoided Oxford products. As said, made to a price on a pile 'Em high, sell' Em cheap basis. Great entry point products for those on a budget maybe but quality isn't too high on their priority list. Didn't help that I did photography for the business I was working for, creating images for their advertising, catalogue, website etc. as part of my employment. The Oxford rep that we saw regularly used the relevant pages from our catalogue in his sales folders he took around dealers... Not that naughty but cheeky all the same. What got my goat was Oxford as a company, or rather the agency they used, took some of our photographs, converted them to line images and then used them on some of their product packaging... They didn't ask beforehand and were arsey when told in no uncertain terms that they were out of order.
I’ve been on the end of Oxford customer services a few years ago. My item was 2 weeks out of warranty, clearly a manufacturing defect, despite numerous phone calls and e/mails they wouldn’t give an inch. I have not purchased any of their products since that day.
Regardless of brand, it's never going to stop a thief, simply deter. All they do now is smother the lock in expanding foam if it has an alarm, else they cut the disc and be done with it.
