Discussion in 'Lounge' started by cookster, Apr 23, 2020.

  1. To be Roman it wasn’t a requirement to be Italian, merely a citizen of Rome. A precursor to the EU maybe?

  2. Didn’t he own a Turkish steam baths? That George bloke!

  6. Try this to get around the pay-wall irritation ....

Add Startpage search engine to your browser of choice , then type in your search.
Everything that comes up will have "anonymous view" in small blue type next to it ..... click on that .
It works for the online content of " a well-known broadcaster "
but it's early days of my playing around with it .... looks promising though !

  8. It's racist to be English.

    Don't ask me why, I don't know.

  9. It’s racists to be proud to be English. It’s racists to want England to be the best. It’s doubly racist to be white and English!

  10. not sure. I think it might be something to do with it in more recent (last 40 years) times with the NF and then EDL “adopting” the flag as theirs.
But I cannot ever remember the day being noted let alone celebrated. Having said that, I was not living in England in the 60’s or 70’s.

  11. Every scouting organisation joins a St George’s day parade, normally the Sunday after (if 23rd isn’t a Sunday) and includes a church service. Many towns have celebrations. Just that BBC and others refuse to cover like paddy’s day.

  12. I always celebrate st George's day.:upyeah:

  13. It’s only perceived to be racist because the majority Of right minded English folk won’t go and claim their flag back from people like the EDL.

you should fly your flag with pride and not let the clackwankers have it

  14. Doesn’t help when you have councils and labour MPs stating its a racist symbol.

I’m not sure how you claim a flag back?

  17. But the Saltire is used in exactly the same way on marches by the slack jawed pitchfork brigade demanding independence.
