Has anyone actually died..

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by Mr C, Dec 1, 2013.

  1. exactly, that is why I put two options so readers could make up their own minds.

  2. To be fair they are probably learning all the time as well. What may have been an inferior product here and there has possiblly now been addressed as their market is going to get more competitive internally.

  3. I have a set of corse style pegs. Over here the cheapest i've found was £180, my made in China ones cost £20 delivered!!!!
Sure, if they were the same price I'd pick the genuines every time, you can tell the difference quite easily, but for something to chuck through the gravel, they're fine.

  4. ive heard the horror stories of brake levers snapping through forums, thats about it.

For a part that you literally put your life in its hands, i wouldnt risk it myself.

  5. I have never heard of a lever snapping or seen any pictures, I think that's just Chinese whispers don't you!

Found the thread about the OEM fubared 1098 discs http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f41/abnormal-front-disc-wear-15210/

  6. The only horror stories I've heard/read are related to brake levers.
Never heard of any snapping, few tales of brakes jamming on due to poor fitting/adjustment by the owner!
Of course, this is then translated into being the lever's fault!

  7. no but i have seen loads of prematurely warped brembos on modern ducats

  8. The snapping levers thing is a total myth perpetuated by people who need to justify having paid way over the odds for levers from Pazzo and the like, just cos they're label goods. Buy any cheap set of chinese levers and compare them to the oem levers - which I guarantee will also be made in china - and you'll see how ridiculous the claims are; the chazzos are almost always of better quality than the oem stuff, and nobody makes outlandish claims about them.

  9. just dont pull the levers so hard beejeezuz

  10. When I was a kid, we 'laughed' at the quality of some Japanese products - I don't see anyone laughing now.

I don't have much experience of Chinese biking products but if they are of lower quality then they will undoubtedly improve as they get more market share. Of course there will always be a market for 'cheap' but cheap doesn't need to be crap.

The 'sleeping giant' is very much awake...

  11. I have chinky titanium caliper bolts, s'arm pinch bolts and rear wheel nut.

    Very nice they are too...

  12. They are sending rockets to the Moon so I am sure they can make discs and levers without breaking a sweat

Oh yes and lets not forget with a few years the Chinese will be building nuclear powers stations on these shores.

  13. Does the criteria of your search needs to be broadened?
Maybe none have broken up and killed anyone, but are they actually any good? Spend £100 on a 'cheap' set is ok assuming they don't warp.
HAve you also considered Black Shadow? They have a pretty good rep. Wont be a s cheap as Chinese chips, but cheaper than oem new.

  14. Not badly priced but I' m not a fan of wavey discs.

The rear discs they are selling look identical to the one I got a few years ago from China.

  15. I dropped my mint, nearly-original Katana 1100 in a car park and the lever didn't bend at all - the handlebar snapped clean off at the clamp. I believe it was British made bars...

  17. Bet you were either trying to put the bitch on centre stand or more likely 3 point turning. I owned a big Kat for many years. great bikes. That 19" front and the rake though plus the stretch to the bars. Bastard.

  18. Mrs AL nearly died, because of a Chinky tyre......

  19. Nice how you used a capitol for your racism AL , nice
