V4 Have Ducati Finally Admitted Their Satnav Is Pants?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by SteveMat, Nov 22, 2024.

  1. Out of interest do some of you use satnav on every ride? Generally I only use it if I am going somewhere a distance away that I dint know the route.
I prefer not having an app telling me where I should go.

  2. As I have a very poor memory, I use one all the time. If I know where I am going then I use Calimoto to record the ride and in that way I can glance at the upcoming road to remind myself of the bends and how sharp they are. Living in SE Wales we are spoilt for good routes and very rarely do the same route twice in a season and I keep a bank of good routes.

  3. I like to ride & drive with a Sat Nav on. Directions of course and carplay makes it easy to find food, fuel & anything else you want simply by asking Siri to take you there.

But the big bonus is the constant knowledge of the ever changing speed restrictions. I've never had so few speeding fines!

  4. I only ever plumb a route in, when on a trip. The rest of the time it’s in my line of sight to show me where the road goes on unfamiliar roads, as I’m normally drunk when I ride as it’s more fun.

  5. I often ride with only a vague idea where I want to end up and just take side roads that look interesting. more fun that way.

  6. That's me too.

  7. I ride with mine always but not directing as I know where I'm going most of the time, purely to inform me of upcoming hazards and photo opportunities. I have found this very helpful over the last few years, definitely saved me from six months of cab rides on at least one occasion.

  9. BMW are similarly hampered by a crap built in Nav. I tried Sygic when I bought my Multistrada, it didn’t last long and I fitted a Garmin XT which also fits on my old RT and I used on a hired RT in the US. I can’t see me going back to an integrated bike Nav until it works without killing my phone and all the other problems I encountered at the time, now forgotten.
