I prefer the 1098\1198 as a bike but the Panigale range are more comfy IMHO (assuming that is one of the OP's considerations?) or maybe just get an 1198SP and slap on some clip ons?
No, the base 1198 is every bit as good as the 1198s as the 's' ohlins arent that much better and once someone who knows how to set susp up does it, then ur good to go. Best bit of the 's' would be the wheels. The 1299 burns yer nadgers, the 1198 burns your calf, i know what body parts I'd prefer to retain.
Now you see that’s really interesting as that’s exactly where my thoughts are. I bought the SuperSport thinking it was the right thing to do, it looks great has more than enough performance for me and it’s very comfortable which at 59 I thought was going to be a consideration, but something is missing compared to the 1098 experience. That bike made me feel great riding it. Maybe I mean that it just made me feel “grateful” that I made it back home again each time but it did put a smile on my face more often than not. The SS it’s an awesome bike and if keeping it purely as an occasional sports tourer was an option, that would be ideal, but in reality it’s primarily a toy nowadays and in that respect this growing feeling is that I’ve made a mistake.
