Hayden To Test WSBK Panigale At Mugello Tomorrow....

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Il Presidente, Sep 3, 2013.

  1. Superbikes don't race there, there's only test times, probably only Ducati.

  2. Nicky Hayden was reportedly on Ducati lap record pace when he tested Carlos Checa's Panigale World Superbike at Mugello yesterday - after he had got over the shock of switching to Pirelli tyres.

I was shocked when i switched to Pirelli tyres too!! least i had a choice and changed them for summat else!!

  3. Ducati has remained quiet about Nicky Hayden's test on its Panigale World Superbike Wednesday at Mugello, but British media reported that Hayden was on lap-record pace before a minor spill.
A report indicated Hayden's best time was 1:51.2, one-tenth of a second quicker than Troy Bayliss managed during development testing earlier this year. The test reportedly ended early when Hayden tipped the Panigale lab bike, which couldn't be repaired at the track.

So the bike's no quicker than when Bayliss walked

  4. So if he is only doing the same time as the others then whats it matter................so it says Hayden finished 10th instead of Checa.......

  5. So much negativity and generally being miserable in so many peoples lives.

  6. hey leave the ducati team alone :p

  7. hey why dont you get the inside nod from a dealer on this......

  8. Ok, interesting...

some questions that come to mind :

if vacuum is an overstatement for underpressure, would that be possible?

if an airbox is too small as it is and one cylinder lays in front of the other ( not in line as 4IL's ) , the first one taking away much of the air before the air left reaches the second one, can that lack of air make the drop in pressure more pronounced on that rear cylinder?

If you can't create overpressure in an airbox without compressor, does that mean that the whole RAMAIR thing is untrue?

    thanks

  9. there is no vaccum. do you realise how hard it is to create a vaccum.
I think you mean lower pressure.
ram air is interesting but there is way too much emphasis put on it. a clean path of fresh air is always best for any engine. but unless you are realistically going close to 200mph the gains are minimal. and proportional to velocity.
some report with cars 450bhp at close to 180mph put the gains at 5hp

  10. I'll keep this simple for now as I'm on my phone.
Ramair is only possible in free stream air flow at supersonic speeds when the flo becomes compressable.
An air box will not see a vacuum as long as the inlet is larger than one of the throttle bodies, and then only at rhe higher end of the rpm range.

  11. ducati racing bikes are in a mess by blackmailing Dorna to change the rules to suit them smacks as cheating a cheap zx10 winning races must really piss ducati off
desmo and panigale are just crap race bikes

  12. I'd kinda like Nicky Hayden to stay in MotoGP ,lets face it theres only 4 riders able to win in the dry , everybody else seems to be there to make up the numbers , I'd prefer him on a bike than some other span-nerd.

  13. Me, I would prefer to see him in WSB on the panigale. I like the guy and feel he would do better in WSB than continuously floating at the back of the pack as he is used to in MOTO-GP. If he has hopped on the pani and is more or less at race speed already then why not? Maybe it will come down to who offers the best financial package.

  14. you mean its all down to money?

  15. If WSB offer him £6.75 an hour but moto gp offer £10.00 an hour I think he will go Moto-gp. :upyeah:

  16. I think there are WSB changes next year to favour the ducati twin. I imagine Nicky is well aware of this and possibly feels its his best chance to get back on podiums. Add the BMW factory team pull out and possibly other factory teams pulling out, the ducati begins to look a good bet.

  17. Yes but everyone knows the rules are changing to favour the ducati, other teams pulling out etc, he'd be better off mid-pack in motoGP.

  18. So it could end up like the 848 Challenge?
