ever noticed what Shakey does with his " doctors dangle ",, whereas many riders get the leg out, some further than others , Shakey keeps his foot / toe in close under the bike ,, have not seen anyone else do that
Both faster than us! But you're right, and that was the point I was trying to make earlier... when you're skilled enough to get the bike over as far as it can go, you can make it turn more by hanging off more... it is an extra little trick to find that extra bit of performance, but largely irrelevant to most of us and the riding we do.
tbh,, i dont like leaning too much as i have never found the limit ,, and dont want to !!! so i lean off as much as poss , ass , shoulder and head , particularly handy when on the Harley which has no ground clearance at all ,,, actually found the technique many years ago when delivering a friends bike home one morning with almost flat rear tyre , did whole journey with hardly any bike lean at all !!!
The whole point of hanging off is that minimise lean angle and maximise corner speed. Therefore you can eventually end up at the same high lean angle but are going faster. For me that was dragging my toes, to dragging my knees then my toes again but that gave me the instant 'stop leaning' trigger. And in most places 10 secs a lap quicker on same bike.
Crafar does it, worth looking up his YouTube channel but you don't get much for free.... motovudu Watching him going no-handed into T1 Cartagena while pointing at the apex is odd
you have still got your foot on the peg,, so no Randy Mamola !! still p good ,,, i have great regard / respect for those who take their bikes on track,, i would love to but just can not no way afford to drop it !! i would hate to
Like this...my shoulder is too high but I'm 2st heavier there than when I raced and leathers a little tight.. it helps me on days when I'm struggling to get the bike to carry full lean as I feel further away from the Tarmac (if that makes sense). Also tend to do this on the road
It used to regularly come off the peg! I took the 959 on track a week after it's first service and the 1299 a week after I bought it.... you don't have to go crazy, but it gives you a chance to practice more safely at a much higher speed with more space. Go to somewhere like Bedford on a road bike only day and have a play around....
